An update, and still interested in your comments if you have any Tranny, the word is (unconfirmed) that Wichita State has offered Marshall $1 Million per year to take over today.

Havent been in town a whole lot the last couple days, but the rumblings today are that he will bolt if the money offered is true.

If so, Winthrop simply can't compete with that much coin.

Sounds like WS is getting serious about playing with the big boys though....exciting if you are a fan.

Done deal. He got $750K which is exactly what Turgeon was making when he left...but Turgeon only got that by getting to the Sweet 16 in '06.

Marshall has been offered several jobs in the last few seasons.

Great hire IMO....and says something about WSU's program given that Marshall is actually from South Carolina and was offered a contract which included naming Winthrop's court after him.

Big coups for Wichita State.

BTW...what he did at Winthrop is simply amazing. 7/9 years in the tournament and that in a conference in which you don't make the NCAA's unless you win the conference tourney. That, to me, tells me that he is a very good coach...not just a good recruiter.
