Default No curling fans here?

Howard just steamrolled [one minor blip] the rest of the world and won the world championship in Edmonton. Maybe the most dominating performance I've seen. Congrats to Howard and his crew.

I love curling, but haven't had the chance to watch much of the World Championships.

Had an absolute blast when the Briar was in Halifax in '03, rumours are it's coming back East in '09... I can't wait

If you ever want to travel for a good curling party, Briar patch, in the Maritimes, attached to the rink = w00p w00p

Glad to hear we dominated

I watched a bit and it is great to see Canada win again, but with the Masters and the Isles-Devils game it was a distant third.

That Howard team looked really dominant the whole tournament.

Not much of a worlds imo.

Howard dominated from beginning to end and only one of their games went the full 10 ends. Todays final was boring after Germany forgot to play in the first end which gave Howard 4 points and the win.

Yeah, Howards team was good, but you have to think that the top 5 teams from the Brier likley would have been top 5 in this event this week as well. Still as a team every guy was like 90% or better. The Americans played great that one game they beat Howards team matching them, but that was obviously a one shot deal as no one else came close to duplicating it and Howards team did that every game.

It was cool to see what they could do with that ice that had a lot of movement on the draws but still ran pretty straight with the hits. If the Brier had that ice there would have been some superb shot making.

I think the top three teams from Alberta would have been right up there with Howard. Amazing the curling talent that Canada has. The European countries, even the good one, seem to send over the same team year after year while Canada has successfully sent over a number of teams and won it.

I agree with most everybody that it's harder to win the Brier then the World's but Howard dominated at the Brier also. I didn't think he was that good.

I have never seen a team curl as well as the Howard team did this week. They were beyond stellar. They were classy, a treat to watch and absolutely amazing shotmakers. I didn't really cheer for them at the Brier this year (Brad Gushue came from the same tiny Newfoundland outport as my Mom did...when she was young she dated his Dad) but they proved that they are, without a doubt, the best team in the world right now.

The Worlds aren't necessarily the best competition but curling isn't just a Canadian game. The Canadian men have only won 1 gold medal (Brad Gushue) at the Olympics in curling and the Canadian women also have only won gold once at the Olympics (Sandra Schmirler). It is not easy to win a gold medal at the worlds...last year we didn't win gold in either the mens or womens at the worlds.

Howard had a good record at the Brier but the games at the Brier were allot closer. In some cases it could of went either way.

At the World's, Howard only played one full game which included the playoffs. The competition at this field looked very sub par but Howards team played incredible (their stats very extremely high).

The Brier was an amazing field and to finish 10-1 and win it all is quite an accomplishment. But carrying on the momentum and curling over 90% as a team in an entire tournament (while not allowing one stolen point) is absolutely amazing. They couldn't miss a shot even if they tried.
