performance moisture wicking socks
Can anyone recommend a good brand? The specific sock I have been wearing the last few years has been discontinued...can't find it anywhere on the net.
They have to be moisture wicking. I've looked extensively at under armour because I love some of their other stuff, but they don't seem to have anything that will work for me. All of their stuff is either lo-cut or no-show and I need a mid-length sock.
Thanks!

I dont remember the brand i used for hiking and hunting but i got them at russel sports, im sure wholesale sports had them aswell. I remember there being a pretty good selection though and the ones i got were middle of the pack in terms of price and i was more than impressed. Maybe try checking out a smilar shop and see what they have.

For what purpose? Summer, winter? Wigwam socks are great which you could probably get at Russells or Wholesale. For extreme cold weather, high activity, get some thin silk liners. They will wick sweat away very fast. You can get silk gloves as well. Just take them of quickly before anyone notices your wearing silk gloves.

10 hours a day of high impact walking.
Cotton socks don't work.
BTW...I'm not in Calgary. It amazes me how many people continue to assume that everyone here is.

Sheesh. 10 hours a day? Don't you posties have a union down there?
I've got a pair of "Ironman Ultimax" socks that are pretty comfy, but my feet spend more time in the "up" position than on the ground so I don't know much about the sweat-sopping capabilities.
They are "running socks" (I didn't buy them) so they might be what you are after. My pair, oddly enough, has a picture of Bob Marley on 'em.

I've heard Smartwool is a good brand. Pretty expensive if I remember, but if you are walking 10 hours a day, they're probably worth it.

OK..so I'm not actually walking the entire 10 hours, but a good chunk of it. Should we say 6-7 miles per day instead? That's probably a more accurate description of what kind of punishment my feet take on a daily basis!
I will look at the Ironman brand...haven't seen it...so maybe it will have something to offer me. Thanks J!

I'll check those out too Frank, though if they are all wool it probably won't work for me.

Thats what I thought as well, but they did make very thin socks, its the type of wool that makes it very breathable and wicks away moisture. Merino (?) wool or something like that....can't remember.....
