That happened to me last week and I waited a few hours and plugged it back in and it started working. When you are in the iPod menu scroll down to "settings" and then all the way down to "reset all settings" I have a U2 iPod so it might be different.

That happened to me. Now I only keep about 1-2 GB worth of stuff on my Ipod as it craps out every three-four weeks. Resetting your ipod is the only solution.
(I have an old school mini 4GB, BTW)

Thanks for the suggestion but that didn't work. When I plug my iPod into my computer, it opens up iTunes but doesn't update or give me any message whatsoever. My iPod just reads "do not disconnect" over and over again.

Kind of defeats the purpose of having an 80GB ipod, doesn't it?

I have a 30 GB video one, purchased new in October, and I tried to reset it manually by holding down the "menu" and "select" button at the same time, it resets the iPod but has no effect whatsoever to the computer.

I think you need to learn how to read. He put in his post that he has a 4GB iPod.

No ****. I think you need to learn how to read between the lines. I was just saying, for all those that went and purchased an ipod that can hold tons of info, they kind of wasted their money, didn't they?
This same stupid thing happened to me after I had mine for oh, a day. But I'm glad I got a 2GB and not an 80, that's for sure.

I couldn't disagree with you more. I bought a 30GB iPod and I wish I had bought an 80GB one instead - I have much more music on my computer than I can fit on my iPod right now.

Uninstall iTunes and re-install it, that may work.

I had a problem like this earlier, there is a type of reset where you hold plat and menu at the same time for a few seconds or something. One of those site prolly has all the details
