Default Video Conferencing

My fiance was contacted by a potential employer in the Yukon who is screening the resumes they received. They are wondering if she would have access to video conferencing for an interview. Has anyone done this before? Is it possible to hook it up to a home computer? I am thinking they want more than just a webcam.

We chat occassionally with my brother and his family, who are pretty much at the other end of the country. Just use a webcam (quite old. I'm sure it wasn't expensive, either). Just chat over MSN. Works fine. Sure the odd technical glitch, but that is moreso because of stuff we do not the actual service. And I think people have an understanding that that stuff could happen.

Anyways, just buy a webcam (nothing fancy!) and go from there. Make sure you have a mic (either external or built in). If you don't have one, you can get one pretty inexpensive that will work for your purposes.

I find skype works a lot better than msn for voice or video. For me at least, the sound with msn is echo-y and there's a lot of video delay/chopiness. I don't get that with skype.
