Default Rule Clarifications

Got a good question tonight re. retirements so might as well clarify that here.

If a player retire at the end of their NHL season, they will be allowed to complete their CPHL season. If they retire before their season they are done now.

For example.

If Gary Roberts announced his retirement tomorrow and stopped playing - he will be retired in the CPHL.

If Gary Roberts announced tomorrow he is retiring at the END of his season - he can complete his CPHL season.

If Gary Roberts season ends in 2 weeks, and he announces his retirement at that point - he can compelte his CPHL season.

Let me know if any of that isn't clear.

Wow clear concise defintions of the rules instead of pull it out of your arse midway through the playoffs. This is indeed the New CPHL.

This is as clear as it gets.

I'll add that if a player currently playing in Europe has completed his season over there and annonces he is retiring from all hockey, does that mean the player can play in the CPHL until the rest of the season? The rules have been a bit different for Euro's because a guy like Turek retired from the NHL, but was still playing in Europe and is hence retired.

Yes - if the player retires after their Euro season they can continue until their CPHL season is complete.

The key with Euro players is always whether or not they state if they are retired from the NHL, as Turek did. If they just go over there without that statement they can continue playing.

Cool, I remember the Tommy Salo fiasco a couple years back where he retired at the end of his teams season and he was forced to retire from the CPHL right there.

In the end it cost me the championship because it forced KG to go get Hall of Famer Garth Snow as his backup to fill the hole left by Salo. Had I got to face Salo in the Stanley Cup I would have killed that seive, and had my players sleep with his wife......

OK a few more rule clarifications.
1. If a player is waived during the post-season, only teams that are out of the playoffs can claim them.
2. GMs will be given 48 hours after off-season re-rates to get any player re-rated to 74 or above on their CPHL team. If you miss this window by even 1 minute your player will be subject to CPHL re-entry waivers
3. Players 24 or above or not subject to re-entry waivers under any circumstance.

Post any questions regarding these rules here.

Cost YOU the championship...I had to go into the playoffs with Jani freakin' Hurme as my backup. Had you gotten to face Salo in the Stanley Cup, you would have been destroyed by my brilliant defense. Clearly, Cechmanek would have felt more confident backed up by Salo and, thus, led us to victory against the Sens.
