I guess this guy doesn't believe in democracy:

Although it is pretty entertaining!

There's been several blurbs in the local paper here about similar happenings....and some folks with Bush signs have had their houses vandalized. I guess the zealots on both side could do with a little lesson in manners and basic democratic philosophy.

Some more anti-freedom election poo-poo:

It is from Salon media, so it does have a liberal bias. Even so, if such allegations are true - yikes!

Skepticism abounds.
If you want to get people to do stuff like that, you don't hire them from a temp agency without knowing their political leanings. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

I admit that it seems overly bold and arrogant. I'm a little skeptical, but at the same time, it wouldn't surprise me.
A Pittsburgh paper also has a story on it:

Can one of you Yanks explain this "register" business to us Canadians. Why do you have to declare who you are going to vote for? Do you have to do it, or is it just an "option"?

It's an option. I was undeclared until I wanted to vote in the Republican primary this fall, so I had to declare. (and this may vary by state). There was a particular judge who handled our case that I wanted to make sure was re-elected to her seat...so I registered Republican so that I could vote in the primary. She lost.
Now, the only thing that registering Republican does to/for me in Kansas is allows me to vote in Republican primaries, nothing more. It doesn't bind me to anything. There is not affiliation with the party....I'm not contacted by them or anything like that.

An ostensibly nonpartisan voter registration drive in Western Pennsylvania has triggered accusations that workers were cheated out of wages and given instructions to avoid adding anyone to the voter rolls who might support the Democratic presidential nominee.
Rule number one of getting people to lie for you - make sure you pay them what you owe them because they're probably not very loyal when the pressure is on.
