Player of the week:
David Vyborny David stepped into the lineup and provided a spark for the injury depleted Pens. He led the Pens to an OT victory over the Canucks with a 4 point effort and finished the week with 3 goals and 2 assists.
Goalie of the week:
Olaf Kolzig Kolzig went undefeated in his 2 starts and entered the net in 2 relief apperances after Martin Gerber was pulled, including a 6-5 OT win over the Canucks where he stopped all the shots he faced. In all Kolzig made 63 saves on 69 shots faced compiling a 2.58 gaa, and a .920 save percentage and recorded 1 win, 1 tie and no losses.
Rookie of the week:
Chris Higgins Higgins saw his role with the Pens increase this week due to injuries and filled in admirably. Higgins scored 2 goals this week to help contribute to a solid week for the team.
Unsung Hero:
Craig Rivet With the loss of top four defensemen Chris Chelios and Sergei Gonchar, Rivet stepped up his play and logged some big minutes. Not only did his minutes rise but so did his production as Craig scored a goal and added 2 assists while staying on the plus side with a +2 rating. Without Craig stepping up the Pens would have felt the loss of 2 of their top defensemen much more.
Sabres have had a good week so far 3 wins and one tie. we've been led by our golaies and our unsung heroes

playing on the 4th line Ortmeyer had a huge week, he and Shayne Endicott (another unsung hero this week) also sparked the Sabres PK
Unsung hero's - Turco has been huge. He went 3-0 this week stopping 76 of the 83 shots he faced. Tim Connolly with 7 points and a +6 for the week. This has been unherd of in Detroit all season long.
