Default Choppy High Definition

I don't know about you guys, but last night's game on High Def was so choppy that I actually turned and watched it on normal cbc.

I have a good tv, I have Monster Cables at the back, and I have the new PVR box.

But it seemed like I was watching a series of 1 second clips that weren't cut properly rather than a live broadcast. It happens occasionally, usually with hockey or raptors basketball. It doesn't happen if I watch football though, or other shows.

Anyone else run into that?

Anything I can do about it?

Looked okay with Shaw.

yep, shaw.

we've had them out like 5 times to connect the cable because they kept screwing it up.

If it is my connection I think I'll drop the high def package. I thought it may have been poor quality broadcast or sometihng.

When was the last time you re-booted and/or shut your receiver down for a period of time. Essentially your receiver is a computer, so it does help to give it a reboot if it isn't working well.

It's probably Shaw's lack of bandwidth causing the macroblocking more than anything, but take a look here...

Last night's game? As in Calgary VS. Colorado? That wasn't HD, the Toronto/Edmonton game was in HD.

The only problem I have with Bell HD is some blockiness when you have a fast graphic moving across the screen. And once when there was a quick flowing river in the background during a nature show.

I've been told that any of those problems are not my TV but the receiver.

Stick your hand on top of your cable box. If it burns your hand, you've probably found the answer. I've seen many times where they act funny once they get too hot.

Could it be that the game wasn't broadcasted in true HD, and only a converted signal. I was at the game last night so I don't know, but on occasion it's not that good especially when they convert the signal to HD.

Phone Shaw and see if they can do anything for you. At the very least they can boost your signal.
