Gyms Near Mackenzie Towne?

Was hoping I could get some local insight regarding gyms.

I'm moving back to Calgary from Vancouver in a couple weeks, and I'd like to join a gym near my new place in Mackenzie Towne.

I haven't lived in Calgary since 2001, and I used to go to the Golds Gym on Macleod and Canyon Meadows. I think that's a little far, and was wondering if they built any new gyms in the SE (preferably the Mackenzie area) since?

There's a Shapes or Curves or something in the Copperfield Mall, but IIRC it's one of those "women only" types of places.

there is another one done by curves to, right around jayman homes. the shawnessy YMCA isnt to far away either

There is a gym by the Deerfoot Inn and Casino - FitZone, I think it is called... and the Volleydome might have a gym as well. That is relatively close.

I checked out their website - pretty lame. No shots of the inside at all.

Might try the Y or go back to Golds.

The inside of the Shawnessy Y isn’t bad but for the amount of people that go there it isn’t very accommodating it closes at 10 every night expect for Sundays which is 8 and if you are going to go make sure its later or earlier never go between 330-700 its really bad, mostly cause there is a high school attached and a lot of kids go straight to the gym afterwards

Just to let you know, the Gold's Gym at Canyon Meadows closed and eventually Good Life Fitness (another gym) moved in. I just wanted to let you know in the event it was the cache of the Gold's Gym name that was drawing you to make the longer trek.
