Default UFC 67 Thread/predictions.

Can't wait for this ppv, going to be great seeing Cro-cop in the cage, and hopefully the old Rampage comes out as well.

Anyways here are some predictions.

Silva v.s. Lutter - This is a tricky one, I have to go with Silva, if Lutter can get it to the ground it could be over, but I don't see it happening. Lutter is stopped before the end of the second round.

Cro-cop v.s. Sanchez - Not even close Cro-cop. This fight probably doesn't go past the 3 minute mark of the first round, though Cro-cop may be a little hesitant in his debut..

Rampage vs. Eastman - If the old Rampage shows up this is an easy pick, but who knows, all Rampage seems to care about is getting paid. He should be pumped to fight in the U.S. though. Rampage wins it.

Cote v.s. Smith - This should be a good fight, a couple guys who want to stand and trade. Smith hits like a truck but I think Cote is more technical than Smith. I'm going to pick Cote just because I want to see him get a win finally.

Machida v.s. Hoger - Machida is inconsistent yet he's still undefeated, I think it stays that way, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Hoger pull off the upset here, he always seems to do better than expected...

Griffin vs. Edgar - Gotta go with Griffin here, he's got some wins over some great competition (Faber and Ludwig). Griffin stays undefeated.

Rivera vs. Martin - Martin hits pretty hard, and Rivera is very inconsistent, but I gotta go with Rivera in this one. Would not be surprised to see Martin get a lucky shot and end with a ko though..

This will be the first UFC card in quite some time I'm not going to watch. Looks like a lot of mismatches to me. I'd rather watch the Flames.

Yeah, this ppv definitely doesn't have the huge matchup of the previous 2. I think Lutter is being over-hyped, I've a feeling Silva destroys him in the 1st with his amazing striking, though I really haven't seen much of Lutter outside a few TUF episodes.

Can't wait to see Rampage/Cro Cop in action... I really hope they both win to start building some serious alternatives in the heavyweight/light heavyweight divisions.

I think Lutter/Silva is a bigger mismatch than Serra/GSP when that eventually occurs. Lutter is a BJJ guy who can't strike, Silva is likely a better BJJ guy who is the best striker at that weight class.

I hope the UFC asked Cro Cop to keep his fight going for more than 30 seconds. I'd like to see a few minutes of action before the KO. I was listening to 960 last weekend (Talktagon - good show, worst name ever!) and they had a guy on that suggested this fight would not have happened in California as the sanctioning body would not have allowed it due to the mismatch.

Yeah I think I will be doing the same. I cant justify skipping the Flames game for this card...I might order the PPV when the game is over as they ususlly replay it right away.

And I wil go on the record saying Lutter will be done in less then 2 minutes.

Silva should be able to handle himself on the ground well, he does have a black belt in BJJ from the Nogueria brothers (for those who don't know, they are both in pride and are fantastic ground fighters). However Silva does not usually fight on the ground so have to give the edge to Lutter there, but I agree with everyone in this thread Lutter shouldn't last too long...

Yeah I've heard that some places would not allow this fight, but once you are in the big leagues (UFC/Pride) you should be expected to face a the best in the world. However this is a bit of stretch as Sanchez only has 6 pro fights.

I can't see Lutter sticking around for more then a couple of minutes. None of the other fights really impress me as must see. I'll get it anyway and watch.

I'm planning on watching the Flames game instead, but I'll hopefully be able to see UFC 67 the next day if my brother-in-law remembers to tape it for me

Anyway, I expct Silva to make pretty short work of Lutter, but if the fight does go to the ground, it could be closer.

I heard a rumor that Las Vegas stopped taking bets on Cro Cop vs Sanchez, and is instead now taking predictions on which row Sanchez's head will land in. I'm thinking row 9. This fight will be over quick.

I'm predicting Rampage for the win over Eastman, but "the Beastman" is no joke. He is a decent veteran fighter, and may give a rusty Rampage trouble.

I actually think Cote vs Smith will be the fight of the night. If any of you saw Smith vs. Sell, you will know why. This should be exciting.

I'll be watching the fights, with an eye on the game at the same time. It's a tough call though! I think that the fights are really predictable, but that is what is exciting; you just never know!

Funny, us too. And we've bought every fight for the past 2 years. Can't justify paying $40 for this card. And come on, the flames game is way more important!!

Looking forward to UFC 68 though!

All the more reason not to buy this one...oh well, it wasn't going three anyways (full story at fightnetwork.com):

UFC middleweight contender Travis Lutter failed to make weight this evening in his bid to cut to the requisite 185-pound limit for his title bout against UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva.

The bout will now be downgraded to a three-round, non-title bout per the Nevada State Athletic Commission’s direction. Silva’s manager, Ed Soares, who relayed the news to Silva via cell phone, was present to accept the new bout terms for his fighter.

So you get the chance of a lifetime, yap about how you are getting no respect and then don't make weight?

He will get killed but you would think that he would have at least made weight so that if by some fluke he was able to win he could be champ. Instead not only will he lose but he probably loses a shot at future UFC fights as he shows that he is unprofessional like this.

Sucks that this has to be on the same night as the biggest game of the year so far. But Crocop is my fav fighter so I will not miss this event. Should be able to catch part of the last period of the game.

Unreal how Lutter blew this chance! How the hell do you earn a shot at instant glory and the title and **** it away by not making weight. Unreal. This should be the last we see of Lutter in the UFC as I think that he just destroyed any chance he had at earning respect from both the fans and other fighters. Unbelievable, I hope he gets destroyed!

On a related UFC note....does anyone know why on the UFC website they have the fight card for UFC 68 but all it has for the Franklin match is "Franklin vs ??"

http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=even...htCard&eid=400

Is this just a case of nobody editing the page in a while, or has something happened to the Macdonald/Franklin matchup that I havent heard about?

He is not talking about Forrest. The matchup tonight is Frank Edgar vs TYSON Griffin.
