Cops use stun gun on deer
http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/WeirdNew...400881-ap.html
What were these cops thinking? What if the deer was hopped up on cocaine and had a heart attack from the voltage!?!

I was being very sarcastic.

I knew that. But I thought cops carrying tranquilizers might be a good idea at some point. I think they can do less damage than stun guns.

True, but I think tranquelizers work sort of like anesthetic, based on weight and body type, so I don't think it would be practical. But I really don't know, this is me trying to be all "science-like". (which I am VERY not, so anyone feel free to correct me....)

I would imagine either would be just as effective. Most vets/animal control people carry the darts that could put down a large animal.
Regardless, good for them for thinking of something other then putting a cap in it. Far to often it's their first and only resort.

The article says stun gun, do they mean a taser? I sort of doubt it, only because a taser does not immobilize someone, even an animal, after the shock is over. I didn't know there were cops anywhere that carried stun guns that knock someone or something out cold.

Well, there have been many cases of people dying from getting tazered by cops, campus police, hazing, personal attacks, etc. Tranquilizers also offer range.

Nobody has ever died as a direct result from the taser. Virtually all deaths are because the suspect has died of excited delirium, probably caused by cocaine.
More cops probably get tasered every year in training than do suspects, so why aren't there any law enforcement officer deaths due to taser??

There are 50 some lawsuits regarding taser international going on regardnig wrongful death or something of that sort. This usually results from people struggling and the cops being overzealous and tasering them excessively like 3-5 times.
I'm saying a low dose tranqualizer would subdue suspects much quicker and would take away the possibility of excessive use of force (whether intentionally or accidentally) by the police to subdue somebody.

50 lawsuits does not translate into proof that tasers cause death. And I also think you are incorrect in your statement about most cases being caused by cops being overzealous.
People have died here in Edmonton after being tased, and it's been concluded that the person died of excited delirium in all cases I know of.
Again, I'd bet more cops get tasered than bad guys, yet none have died from what I understand.
