Default High Flyin 5, Fallin 4...

I haven't done one of these in awhile so here it is.

High 5:

1. Florida Panthers-sure they have lost 3 in a row but really these are just small bumps in the road for the Panthers who have scoring, defence, goaltending. They really do have it all and have now added Scott Gomez.

2. Montreal Canadiens-7 wins in the past 10 games, and are keeping pace with the Panthers. The cup favorite seems to be playing at a higher level after a so-so start.

3. Edmonton Oilers-they have lost 4 in a row but when they are on they are very good. The have the best goalie in the league, and if they could add alittle more depth up front they could challenge the top teams in the Gretzky Conference.

4 and 5. There are a group of teams in these 2 spots. Carolina, Washington, Colorado, Chicago, and Minnesota. They are all very good teams that seem to go on long winning streaks then hit some bumps in the road.

Fallin 4:

1. San Jose Sharks-3 wins in a row for the basement dwelling Sharks. Angelo Esposito maybe wearing teal and black next season.

2. Detroit Red Wings-the lack of goaltending killed the Wings, not even Marty Turco has made a difference, they recently ended a double digit losing streak. And to make matters worse, they moved their #1 pick to the Panthers.

3. Calgary Flames-the Flames have dropped 6 straight games as GM Axel begins the rebuilding process. Axel has one great piece in place, and that is a top level goalie, which is the usually the hardest piece to get.

4. New Jersey Devils-just 2 wins in their past 10, and have lost 4 straight games. They were a nice story for the first half but lack of depth has finally caught up with these team.

I'd definitely agree with your analysis of the Devils. Khabibulin was injured this entire week and our team's lack of goaltending depth exposed us. Now that he's back, I'm hoping we can put some wins together.

The Hawks are heading into a tough streak of games too. After amassing 31 out of the last 36 points, the next bunch of games will feature a couple of teams above us in the standings. And the Penguins who will probably get healthy just in time to smack the Hawks around. In 17 days we start the Blues and Wild fest with 3 games against the Blues and 4 against the Wild men with one out of place Avs game in the middle. TOUGH stretch for the young Hawks.

oddly enough, we havent been out of the games completely and are still getting our SOG. we just dont have the snipers to put the puck in the net.
