Finally, something other than hockey worth watching on CBC.
One of the funniest shows in tv history has started airing weekdays/nights on CBC. Arrested Development is airing Monday-Friday at 5:30 and midnight local time. It's airing in HD at 3:30 and 10 (Calgary time).
This is one of the few shows that is actually funnier upon second or third viewing.
The pilot episode aired on New Year's Day (it will air again at midnight), and the other episodes are airing in order every weekday.
I already have every episode on DVD, but I haven't seen any in HD.

Supersize me was also on CBC tonight...I haven't had McD's in a while, and I don't think I'll be back. Well maybe to get the Flames calendar if they're still gonna have it every year, but that's about it.

Great movie to watch, but I think it was a bit of a smear job. If I went from an all vegi diet to eating Macdonalds three times a day, and having fries supersized, I think I would go through all kinds of health problems, and probably stroke out. The people that do eat there three meals a day 7 days a week, probably would still have health problems but not in the radical way that the guy in the movie did have. I almost don't blame Macdonalds for not granting him interviews, there was no benefit to them, and a great deal of promised harm.
I do find it funny that a Macdonalds salad when eating with dressing contains more fat then one of thier burgers.

Sure it was a smear job, Captain but one movie can't counteract the milllllions of commercials Rotten Ronnie feeds to our children.

Its not about counteracting commercials, but I really don't think its Macdonalds jobs to baby sit society, and to set dietary habits. They make hamburgers, and sell them. In fact outside of thier light menu's which they've advertised, I've never seen then produce an ad that says that thier food is good for you or a part of a balanced diet. However you can get some pretty cool toys with the happy meals.

I'm an adult and so are you, we can make up our own minds about Ronnies but kids are being brainwashed into bad eating habits and not enough adults know any better. This movie gives a pause for thought on what we eat and what we feed our kids.

First of all, parents have the responsibility to give their children proper nutrition. Second, adults know better, but they do it anyways because they're lazy.

Speak for yourself, I love the CBC. It still has the best news and documentary programs out of any channel in North America, and very solid sports programming. Living in the U.S, it's the channel I miss the most.... atleast it's intelligent and original (if not stellar in everything), unlike Global and CTV which for the most part just rerun American shows you can get on many other networks anyway.

I know the CBC is boring compared to the awesomeness of anything produced in the US for many of you but another show I will be watching is the Greatest Canadian Invention on Wed. at 8 Pm.

Just because a show is on CBC HD, does not mean that it is being shown in HD, right?
I just got HD for Xmas, and still new to all this. Sure impressive - I watched Cousteau specials all day Monday on NG HD, and it seemed like I was really diving in the coral reefs.

Excellent points, and exactly how I feel.
Let's also not forget that the guy completely stopped exercising or even walking to work. Basically he lead the most unhealth life possible yet ONLY pointed the finger at McDs.
Maybe I should make a movie where I go from an all-meat diet to a vegan one to see what does that to my body. As it is now when I have to much broccoli all sorts of nasty things tend to happen.
The body doesn't deal with with sudden changes in diet. What that guy went through had little to do with McDonalds.

Really? What cause the massive spike in this cholesterol? He walked what the average American does in a day and got the same exercise as the average American. I'm sure a radical change in diet would affect you briefly, but the human body has not adapted to fast food. I would have a hard time believing that McDonalds didn't have anything but a massive effect on what happen to him. A hamburger you make at home and a hamburger you buy at McDonalds are very different. McDonalds is really really terrible food for you.

It wasn't that he ate at McDs that caused his problems. It was that he vastly over-ate.
So if you over-eat and stop exercising you become unhealthy? Well no kidding.
But that's not what his conclusions at the end of the movie were.
