Default Shaw Nitro

Just curious if anyone out there has tried Shaw's newest high speed offering, Nitro, which runs at 25 megabits. I'm happy with Extreme-I, but 25 meg...wow

On the other hand, how many hours a day do you need to sit in front of your computer to justify $100 per month?

Yeah, the cost kills it for me.. if they bumped up the upload to 2Mb then I'd consider it.

Who is really ever going to need that kind of speed? Unless you are in the habit of d/ling huge files, like in the Gig range, then you really are never going to make full use of it.

Not even a hardcore gamer would use it, d/l stream is perfectly good for pretty much all games even at their regular speeds, u/l stream in most games is also minimal.

A buddy I work with got it for 2 weeks and went back to I-Extreme.

He said he was unable to get it to go much past 13 or 14 mbps; even with multitasking. His thought were that if it was $20 more he'd have kept it. But it wasn't worth double.

Probably a scenario where it would be good is if you live in a household with 3 or 4 geeks sharing an internet connection; then you might be able to make use of it.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too, that it probably isn't quite as fast as advertised. I emailed Shaw to see if they'd let me try it free for a while to give it a whirl.

It's just a pathetic way to make more money for shaw. In advanced internet countries in Asia, such as Korea, you already have most lines at these blazing speeds without upload/download bandwidth limitations.

Shaw just throttles back everybody else on lite and regular.
