Default Heartland Homes

Just wondering if anyone has dealt with buying/building with Heartland Homes. We're interested in the New Brighton area.

Thanks.

They were good up until we moved in, and then the service was bad and they would do anything not to have to fix something. But all in all I had very little problems with them and from friends that have bought houses it seems like service after you move in is bad with all companies.

I live in a Heartland in McKenzie Towne (Windsor style). It's a nice area and the house is nice. I've never had any dealings with the company since we bought the home from the previous owner. I've been in some of the new showhomes and some of them seem to have been put up in a hurry and had squeaky stairs, etc. Our place is about 4 years old and at that time they weren't throwing them up as quick and the build quality seems better. We'll likely be selling soon and moving to another province.

We live in a Heartland Home in McKenzie Towne and haven't had any problems with them, the whole buying process went smoothly.

I almost bought a Heartland Home in McKenzie Towne when I bought my first place. They originally seemed to be the cheapest builder and I thought the only one I could afford. After you get past the original price they give you I found they REALLY nickle and dimed you on all sorts of upgrades that a lot of other builders included in the price. It was quite ridiculous I thought. I pretty much had closed the deal, but I decided just to check out Jayman to see if they had anything in my price range. I actually was able to buy a nice 2 story Jayman with hardwood floors for less than it would have cost me for the Heartland Home.

That was about 3 years ago so maybe things have changed but just make sure you do your homework and look at all of your options.
