You say that as if the Conservatives (well, I guess the old PC party, since the new Conservatives have never been in power) never failed to keep a campaign promise.
As for your first point: I don't think *all* people with opposing viewpoints are stupid, but I really have to question the intelligence of anyone who backs Bush. His foreign policy has been disastrous, and fiscally he's anything but sensible, bringing the US debt and deficit to heights that would make even Reagan blush. The only demigraphic I could see that he still warrants their unwavering support is the religious right, and frankly, it's not the least bit challenging to question
their intelligence.
