The story of George Soros, billionaire, who is waging a crusade to defeat GW Bush in the coming USA election.

Is it bad for democracy?

About as bad as this is I think:

NRA endorses President Bush
Powerful head of gun lobby; powerful lobby group in their own right, weighs in.
Gee, who'd of thought the NRA would take a rifle owning hunter, ex vet of Vietnam that saw action, BELOW a slacks wearing cheerleader .
And Americans wonder why we think it's interesting up here.

The Electoral College is bad for democracy.

A graphic demonstration here:

How much does every vote count?

I dunno, is Soros broadcasting a slanderous "documentary" on all of his television stations a week before the vote?

Only if you believe we live in a real democracy. It's time we demand a direct say in each and every important decision via direct democracy.

Ugh, no thanks. If people are stupid enough to re-elect Bush I certainly don't want the "majority" passing laws.

Except the "majority" voted for Gore (and likely will vote for Kerry as well). :P

So people who have opposing viewpoints are stupid?

Though i shouldnt speak because i feel the exact same way about those who re-elect Liberals repeatedly in Canada.

You say that as if the Conservatives (well, I guess the old PC party, since the new Conservatives have never been in power) never failed to keep a campaign promise.

As for your first point: I don't think *all* people with opposing viewpoints are stupid, but I really have to question the intelligence of anyone who backs Bush. His foreign policy has been disastrous, and fiscally he's anything but sensible, bringing the US debt and deficit to heights that would make even Reagan blush. The only demigraphic I could see that he still warrants their unwavering support is the religious right, and frankly, it's not the least bit challenging to question their intelligence.
