Rocky 6 "Rocky Balboa"
I was one of the first people to make fun of this movie before it was even shot. Sounded like a pretty stupid idea to me but after seeing a few extended trailers, I've got to say I'm really excited to see this movie. Kerr was talking about it on the big show how he couldn't help but get a little excited over the movie after he saw some trailers. The early reviews have been pretty good too. Will any CP'ers be going to see it?

I feel the same way.
I made fun of it, but after seeing the trailers I cant wait to see it. I like the concept of an old guy coming back for a shot based on a computer simulation. George Forman with a modern edge, should be good.

I havent seen any of the trailors, nor read any reviews, but put me down as one who thinks this is a stupid idea. It just seems like they just ran out of idea's and made this movie. I would expect to see jar-jar from star wars in this movie.
However, I do want this to be a good movie, it's a shame when things try to make a comback and are horrible. Or not even with a comeback, just when people don't know when to say enough is enough.

I don't know what to think about it. Looks decent from everything I've seen, but the idea of tossing a brand new Rocky movie out now, is kind of weird, and stupid. Might work out, but most things like this rarely do.

I am dying to see this movie. I am a big fan of the Rocky series. Admittedly, I was a bit apprehensive when I heard they were going to do another one because there is definitely the potential for this to really suck and basically embarrass the whole franchise. But at the same time, it also could be a way to end the series on a much more positive note than the fifth one did. That movie sucked. So I have high hopes they end the series right this time around.
One thing I am also nervous/curious about though is the fact that Adrienne isn't in this one. Their relationship was part of what made the first movies so endearing, IMO.

I had the pleasure of seeing the first one in the theater as a twelve-year-old kid. I rewatched it fairly recently and came away with this observation: Sly can act. Or, well, could act. That scene in Rocky's apartment where Mick (Burgess Meredith) came over to ask to be his trainer was pretty impressive.

I wish I could have seen any of them in the theaters. I wasn't born when the first few came out and was probably too young to see the others. But I have the set on DVD and watch them quite frequently. I started watching them again when I saw the first trailer for this movie on TV. I can't wait to drag someone to the theaters with me to see this one. It better be a goodie!
As for the scene you are referring to, definitely a great scene. One of the best scenes from the series, I would suggest, and definitely well done by Sly. It's probably one of the only times when I thought that about his acting though.

The movie was pretty good and is defintely worth the money. At first when i heard they were going to make a 6th rocky, i thought of either two things...a second Rocky 5 (which i think we can all agree was terrible), or a old man in the ring which does the impossible again and is not believeable at all.
Without givng away too much, i can say that it was a very solid storyline and was very enjoyable and...dare i say it belivable.
Only a single bout of boxing action in this one...but they really make it look like the HBO pay-per-view which i thought was excellent, and certainly intense.
Worth seeing IMO

well both of the first two Rocky movies won Ocscars for best picture, so for a guy who wrote and directed both as well as starred in the lead role there is no arguing that Stallone had/has an immense amount of talent. and when he did the first one he was a nobody, that is particularly impressive

You've seen it? Lucky bugger. Is there a training montage?
My guess for what happens, or at least what I would like to see, is Rocky lose the fight, but go the distance. That was always his thing. In the first movie, that was his goal when he fought Creed, he just wanted to go the distance and finish the fight. I think it would be good to see him do that here. Just go the distance. It would be unbelievable, for me anyways, to see him as a 60+ year old guy beat the ever loving crap out of this top young fighter.

Only the first one won Best Picture. Godfather 2 is the only sequel to have won Best Picture (unless you count Silence of the Lambs as a sequel to Manhunter, which I don't).

Stallone was on Conan the other night and they showed a clip of the training montage, it has "Gonna Fly Now" as the music.
One of the guys at work went to a screening of it last week and he said it was pretty bad, and short (barely 90 minutes long).

She's not?
Talia Shire is listed on the credits. Is she just in flashbacks?

Maybe this warrants it's own thread, but how about a "Best Rocky Quotes" thread?
from Rocky V:
"In the ring! In the ring! Tommy Gunn only fights in the ring!"
"My ring's outside"

Either that or she dies early on in the film. But I think you are right and that it's flashbacks.
Some Rocky quotations that I like:
Rocky: No, maybe I can't win. Maybe the only thing I can do is just take everything he's got. But to beat me, he's going to have to kill me. And to kill me, he's gonna have to have the heart to stand in front of me. And to do that, he's got to be willing to die himself. (Rocky IV)
Rocky: I see three of him out there.
Paulie: Hit the one in the middle.
(Rocky IV)
Duke: You're gonna have to go through hell, worse than any nightmare you've ever dreamed. But when it's over, I know you'll be the one standing. You know what you have to do. Do it. (Rocky IV)
Guy: How's about investing in condominiums? It's safe.
Rocky: Condominiums?
Guy: Yeah, condominiums.
Rocky: I never use 'em.
(Rocky II)
Mick: You're gonna eat lightnin' you're gonna crap thunder (Rocky II)

I am a massive fan of the original 5. Yeah, even Rocky V gave me chills at certain points. Like the part when Tommy Gunn knocks Rocky down on the streets and you have the whole Mickey flashback, and then the whole "Mickey loves ya" at the end. Phew gives me chills.
This trailer makes me really want to go see this movie, really badly.
