Sp What Did You Get For Christmas?
As one of the posters in the Far East (where it is Xmas eve already), and seeing as we're celebrating Xmas day on Xmas eve morning as my daughter is in school on Monday, I thought I'd start off a list Xmas gift list thread so that everyone can share. I got:
This Jacket
Bully (my mom sent me this, but I know my brother had a hand in this selection)
Two Phillip Roth novels (American Pastoral and Portnoy's Complaint - this year I managed to read all of the books in my library at long last. I think that will be one of my resolutions in 2007...)
iTunes Gift Certificate
and a nice pillow
Not a bad haul. Merry Xmas.

LG Chocolate cell phone, its pretty sweet. I like the mp3 player, the touch sensitive buttons and the sleek look of it. Ive had it for a week so far, no complaints.

My parents insist on buying me things, despite my plea that I don't want/need anything. So I bought some things for myself, and they want to give me cash for some of them. Recent purchases include an iPod Nano, HD-DVD player for the 360, hockey skates...so I don't know what they are giving me. They have little nieces and nephews, and I'd rather they spent the money on them, but this is an argument I cannot win.

I already have one of my presents. Creative Zen Vision M: 30 GB MP3 player. So besides stocking stuffers I really only have one present to open tomorrow(my mom works Christmas day for the second year in a row) from my sister and her family and that will probably be a Metallica: The Videos 89-04 DVD.

My early christmas present was my grandfather dying... Wait for it... And it re-united the family. A couple of people hadn't talked to others for 15 years, and now everyone (except me) will be together for christmas dinner for the first time since the year Calgary won the Stanley Cup!

My family decided not to do gifts this year. It was becoming unnecessary, stressful and expensive. In hindsight, I think we went too far with gifts in the past and now, we all pretty much just buy the things we need when we need them. It feels a little strange but as a single guy who lives alone it is soooooo nice not to run around the mall like a chicken; I get to laugh at all the ones who do. I think the gifts part should be for the kids and when you have them, I imagine you re-live Christmas through them all over again. I just really dig the family getting together and having a big dinner,
That being said, I'm probably going to go buy myself some gifts on boxing day/week. I'm thinking of computer upgrades, an mp3 of some kind (ipod, zune, etc) a guitar, and maybe a leather recliner if I see a good price.

It is all about the kids this year. I have been buggin them to open a gift for a few days now. Finally this morning they opened the one I wanted them to. We have been playing a Wii all day, lots of fun and the 4 year old bowled a 179 already.

My sister was able to get out of the intensive care unit at the hospital, after that nothing else seems to matter.
Past that I know that I am getting a new suit and a few books. I wouldn't mind a Wii under the tree though.
