Wow telus mobility is a pain in the a$$
so I opened my cell phone bill today and the amount that I owe is about 3 times what I usually pay! Wondering what is going on I find out that I have 320 Minutes of long Distance charges, the majority of these minutes coming from three calls (2- 120 minutes and I 70 minute call) of which I never remember making for such a long time.
so the first call happened at approx. 1 am (supposedly lasting for 120 minutes), the next call on my bill showed at 1:04 a.m. and so on. All in all I made 5 more calls in the time that these 310 minutes worth of calls were occuring.
So anyhow, I call Telus and after holding for about 20 minutes the guy comes on and says that their tower shows that I was on it for that time. I know I wasn't and obviously my bill shows that I wasn't so commence heated argument for another ten minutes. The way that it was left is that Telus has to do an enquiry that will take about a week or so so I asked the guy how I'm supposed to know if anything was found out and he told ME to call back later. I can't believe this company and the sh*t they get away with...soon as the problem is fixedi'm taking my business elsewhere. I guess this is what you get for being a loyal and well-paying customer for 10 years!

When I had a cell phone, Telus once phoned me up and told me that they had accidently been over-billing me. Fine I'm thinking, maybe a bill or two I can take because its not that much, and they have admitted their mistake. I'll probably get some rebate or whatever out of the deal as well.
Then came the shocker - they had overcharged me for around 900 bucks! Not only that, but they proceeded to tell me that it would be left on my account as a credit and that they didn't do refunds. Needless to say after a good number of my grumpy phone calls, I quickly got a cheque cut and sent out to me. 'Tis the one horror story I have had.

Telus has the best coverage in alberta. Their customer service is poor-ish, but when you need reliability they have everyone else beat.
I got new phones last December, I am still waiting for my free accessories. I haven't talked to them since march so I am sure they lost my order.

I reiterate my offer of assistance to any Telus subscriber who needs it. Feel free to PM me your details... (I'd need a name and a number and a brief description of the issue.)
And Red Hot, at least we called. Other unnamed competitors of Telus have a history of not admitting their mistakes.
rttr, I'm sure that if there's an issue, (Which it sounds like their certainly could be,) we'll get it sorted out. A little patience goes a long way. We aren't trying to rip you off. If you refrain from treating us like we are, it tends to work out better for you.

Although they may have the best coverage that can change but they will always be CDMA (no sim card) which is a huge negative. Most mobile phone service providers in the world are GSM (sim card), and for travellers like me it is amazingly useful to have a tri, or quad-band GSM phone. I'm currently with Telus as well as Vodafone UK so I need two phones, but once I get my new GSM phone (a Samsung E900, I can't wait!) and sign up with Rogers I'll be able to switch sim cards and use it here as well as in Europe/Asia/Etc..

Just wait until the number portability comes into effect. The providers will likely offer great deals to lure each other's customers away. March 2007 isn't too far away.

Neither can I...i am on Telus and looking to jump ship. The other thing I don't like about them is their phone selection is crap compared to the others.

My 3 year contract with Telus is up this Boxing Day. Woohoo!!
Unfortunately, I recently got a new phone that I really like, so I may stick around for a bit. Hopefully I can get another nice phone and keep my number when I switch in the not too distant future.

Coverage can't be beat with Telus. Had Fido for a few years, and felt dirty with Rogers a couple years back..it lasted 1 month and I paid the full penalty to get out of my and my wifes contract after 1 month....dropping calls while in Fish Creek Park continously (where we lived) and on certain parts of Deerfoot trail was disgraceful. Thankfully, I never cancelled the Telus account.
Telus works wherever I go flawlessly...in the US, out hiking etc etc. I don't trust a Rogers phone to work as far as I can throw it.
CS is adequate with Telus, Fido was better, but now their Rogers, and thus horrible. A few weeks into my short time with Rogers, I was on the phone regarding a billing issue (never had one with Telus) and mentioned something in passing about going to the US for a trip..they said that US roaming wasn't activated..I told them to activate it, and they asked for a deposit....and it had nothing to do with my credit, just because I hadn't been with them for that long. Quite bizarre, and an example of their garabage business practices (by a Ted Rogers company...no!?!).
The gripe I have with all carriers is data costs, hopefully that will come down in the coming years.
WNP is fine...but if you're in a contract, you're in a contract. Although I expect offers will be somewhat sweetened for those to jump ship, the loyalty and rentention departments will also ramp up efforts...but, I wouldn't expect the moon...no everyone's contract is free and clear come March or April 2007, so whatever carrier you're hoping to swtich to won't give you the moon...and anything they do give you will likely be dependant on you signing a 2 year contract.
And, I can vouch for FireFly...she's very good at providing the correct and proper info for making an informed decision...she's very helpful and very patitent.

I hate telus. Very overpriced. Also, what is up with "free evenings" since when did an evening start at 9pm? But for $5 more a month you can get them to start 2 hours earlier.

Me and my family have never really had any problems with Telus, and any that came up were fixed pretty fast. But then again that may be attributed to my Mom and Dad know alot of people in the Telus building since they run the conveniance store there.

I also have been with telus for a number of years and the only complaint I had was fixed quickly and painlessly. I thought I would have to fight them but they agreed with me and credited my account. I looked around before renewing for a couple years and for what I was looking for Telus was still the best option.
