Looks like one of the NHL Flames top players of all time is done. I was asking about him when I acquired Niedermayer but someone else had already grabbed him. I guess I got luckey. I remember when Cheese gave him and Lemieux 3 year deals as UFA's in 03 that I didn't think there would be any way either guy would make it through that term. Well Chris has enough depth that he should withstand this loss alright though.

Liked Niewy a lot when he was a Flame, but getting Iginla for him hasn't been so bad.

Niewey is one of my all time favorite Flames. I'm glad I didn't pull the trigger on a deal I had offered earlier in the season...

Classic player. Would have suited better to the rule changes had they occured 10-15 years ago.

I know he left on not so good terms, but I still think of him as a Flame first... everything else second.

Losing a 76 OV player would hurt every team in this league without question.

I've always liked Nieuwendyk... master of the tipped shot!

I have to admit that Schumm has shown a Houdini like ability to escape at times. Offed Lemieux just before he retired, now he offed Niewendyk. Last year he offed Thibault just before he went on IR for the rest of the season too. He is sneaky.

Next you're going to tell me that he can 'save' a cheerleader.

Schum's an internet geek, cheerleaders want nothing to do with him. He'll have to settle for a waitress at a diner in Texas.

wudnt that be cool if i cud...lets try...nordiques will miss the playoffs this year too

now if Matt Greene and Doug Janik can turn into sumthing that deal might be worth sumthing otherwise, its really no win for either, haha.

the last years Mario Lemieux deal was good though, got Ryan Suter out of it.

Oh ya, I can actually see the future, thats why Im rebuilding this year, hehe
