Default Language Audio CD's

Has anyone had any luck with these? What is a good name in Language CD's? I would like to learn Italian and be able to talk to my grandmother in her native language. I can take the courses for free but don't want to give up my evenings. Since I'm usually stuck in traffic for about 2 hrs a day I figure it could be something I could listen to in the car.

I think the best ones, at least for learning French, are the Pimsleur CDs. My girlfriend actually became quite good in French using these. I take classes with an instructor (paid by my company) and she uses the CDs and she's just as good as me, if not better.

Here's a link. I don't claim to know anything about the site though; my girlfriend just got all the tapes off bittorent (not that I'm condoning that either):

Edit: Here's a wikipedia page on how the Pimsleur system works:

I've heard good things about Rosetta Stone...you could also checkout the podcasts on Itunes

If you want to learn Mandarin Chinese (won't help with your grandma) there is a good system at Chinesepod.com

I've used both Pimsleur and Rosetta Stone. I'd reccommend Pimsleur.

PS - as they're just mp3 files... they're available online if you look for them.
