Return of the Oil Kings...

Even though I hate all things Edmonton (at least those related to hockey and football), kudo to the Oilers for bringing back the "Oil Kings" name for the expansion WHL team.

I hate the "Hitmen" name. I love to see the Flames change the name of the team to "Centennials", "Wranglers" or even to the "Junior Flames" like the Montreal Jr. Canadiens of the past.

I thought they should modernize the name a bit...the "Edmonton Oil Queens" has a better ring to it!

No, they should have went with the Mullet Kings, Greasy Mullets. It will be interesting to see how the WHL does in Edmonton this time. The Ice didn't do very well at all, but this team is going to be partnered up with the Oilers so that itself should give it a better chance. But with Oilers ticket prices being what they are now and the demand being up, it will be a good alternative for people who want to take their kids to some decent hockey games.

I sincerely hope the team is a success in Edmonton. The Oilers killed the last three WHL teams Edmonton had, so hopefully with their support this one will last.

I hope the WHL doesnt schedule the Oil Kings home opener against a Hitmen home game. I'll make the drive up if I can.

That said, I hate the name. They are dragging up a 30 year dead skeleton while trying to sell a new team to kids that cannot relate to the name.

Celebrate your past, but dont live in it.
