You seem to forget that fate get's just a bit crueler to the Red Sox every season. The Yankees will win the series in extra innings in the 7th game again. Except this time the Sox will stage a huge comeback against Rivera in the 9th only to have the least dangerous guy on the Yankees Miguel Cairo hit a homerun on an 0-2 pitch with 2 out in the 13th inning.

Frankly I think the first round was too easy for the Red Sox. They know how to blow teams out but they don't yet know how to win a close series against a team like the Yankees. If the Angels had tested them more I would have more confidence that they would be able to go up against the Yanks but I think they will get beat again in a close series.

Curses and history are irrelevent in the face of a less than stellar pitching staff. Boston's offense can bomb the crap out of the Yankee starters, while Pedro and Schilling can shut the Yankees down.

Hell, the Yankees are incredibly lucky to have gotten past the Twins. They will need to be a hell of a lot better if they hope to defeat Boston.

I agree, except there is something to be said for a team like the Yankees enterring the series against the Sox with the knowledge they can beat them. I'm not sure the BoSox have this confidence against the Yanks, particularly after last year.

If Boston takes game one, all of that goes right out the window.

The biggest problem I have with this series is that I just cannot stand to watch the Yankees anymore. Not because I hate them - which I do - but I cannot stand to listen to both ESPN and FOX spend the entire broadcast performing verbal fellatio on the Yanks.

Every other series was great to watch, but I followed Yankees-Twins mostly through boxscores. I suspect I'll be doing the same in the ALCS. Hopefully the Astros beat Atlanta tonight so I can at least enjoy the NLCS.
