I went and saw The Village yesterday. I think it is the least of Shyamalans 4 films but if you ask me he is still batting 1000. I really enjoyed it. His use of lighting, sound and cinematography is up there with the best of the best. The story may not have been all that, and I predicted the twist ending but, I must say if M Night Shyamalan took the script to Santa With Muscles I think he could make it watchable. He is doing a great job of following in the footsteps of Hitchcock and Spielberg if you ask me.

It was a real interesting flick... I came in with no expectations and came out entertained... though to be real honest, its been done, the concept is tired and thats all I'll say until someone else spoils it.

Yea, I thought it was a really good movie. That's all I'll really say because there's others who might be intending to see it, so I won't give anything away.

Good cinematography, good script, good pace, and a good twist at the end. The 3 main actors were really, really good too imo (Bryce Dallas Howard, Adrien Brodie, Joaquin Phoenix).

Should have known better to read through this topic, but at the same time I thought people were smarter than this.

Don't worry it has nothing to do with the movie-just a joke.
But I will spoil this part of the movie for you. Bruce Willis was actually a ghost the whole time.

Great now I feel like a real ***hole. I sincerely apologize, i just didn't think there were too many people out there that hadn't seen it yet (and if there were I thought it wasn't in their plans, or that the twist was already spoiled for them). Nothing sucks more than having a movie spoiled. Sorry dude.

p.s. Darth Vader is Luke Skywalkers father.

also don't be dismayed the 6th sense is still well worth a watch and the ending still has an impact on me although i have seen it a few times already. It is an awesome movie.

I thought it was a really good movie. Definitely worth watching. I didn't really expect anything going into it though. So it was hard to be disappointed with it.

Was going to add: at the end of this movie I wanted to do what Homer did in the episode where he met Marge

(coming out of Empire Strikes Back).

"wow, who would've thought Darth Vader was Luke Skywalker's father"/

...only it would've been "wow, who would've thought______________"

I thought that this movie was a weak effort, and the ending without giving anything away was right in line with a Stephen King ending ie poor

He's a good film maker, but this one was a stinker

I figured out the 'twist' in the first 15 minutes of the film, and I'm usually the slowest guy in the theatre when it comes to figuring out these things. Gorgeous cinematography, excellent acting, adequate dialog, and an interesting overall premise, but for me the ending was extremely unsatisfying. I kept thinking there had to be something more. The ending needed to be somehow different and stronger than the previous films (like in Signs--really tight, strong ending), or else he should have gone away from the 'twist' format completely.

On the other hand, it was almost more of an exploration of fear, rather than a film that was trying to get the audience to be frightened. I was never really frightened for any of the characters, despite the fact that I genuinely believed their own fright.

Anyway, he's still one of my favorite directors, and I'm really looking forward to his adaptation of Life of Pi.
