The Killers Just Suck
A pretty lame thread title, but it says it all. I've become disgusted by this group (more so idiot lead singer Brandon Flowers) over the last few months and needed a place to vent. First we had the, "this is the best music you've heard in the last 20 years" from a band who has released all of 2 Albums. And that album which was suppose to have the best music any of us have heard in the last two decades, has been ripped to shreds by the critics.
Then they trashed Green Day to the national media, a band that has already accomplished more then the Killers could ever dream of. The guy has already found himself getting in feuds with Bravery, Fall Out Boy, and Panic! At the Disco all in his short little time.

don't fall for the feuds between bands, it's all a ploy to generate much needed sales in the music industry...

I strongly agree with the thread title. But that's the state of music these days; a mediocre, boring, easy to swallow band gets hailed as the next big thing. The Killers would be hard pressed to make the best album of the week it was released, let alone the last 20 years.

I swear to God the same guy is the lead singer in every single one of those bands.
One the bright side, Tom Waits has come out with a three disc compilation.

Based on their music alone, the band is alright. Their first major album was actually quite refreashing...but they changed/ lost their image sometime between then and releasing their second album.
I guess the fame got to their heads.

I keep hearing people boast that their new album will be the best album in the past 20 years. It makes me wonder what album came out in 1985 that no one wants to challenge it.

I don't understand all this hype either for the killers. I've listened to both their albums a couple of times now and at first I didn't mind them. But the more I listen to them the more repetitive their music is to me. Every song seems the same.

I am a huge fan of the Killer's first album, it was refreshing then came the bands Fallout Boy and Panic!. But the Killer's second okay, I would never call it the best album in 20 years, and thier claim of sounding more american is horse when they moved to England to record the tracks. I guess it is all in people's taist in music.

Brothers in Arms?
That Killers singer is just annoying to look at. I know a six-year old that is a big fan of the band though.

His voice is rather horrible... What was with the fad of obscuring the vocalist's... vocals? The Strokes, The Killers, and I'm pretty sure that Jet did it too.

I love the old album... I love the new album.... that being said it's not a good thing to proclaim that your album is the best one in the past 20 Years (if they did say that).

Terence Trent D'Arby said his record was better than the Beatles.
Where is he now?

He did indeed say that. But I'm pretty sure he isn't delusional enough to actually believe 90% of what he says. Haven't heard the new album but the last one was ok if you happened to find yourself listening to it. Entertaining pop that tires very quickly.

I like the Killers. Haven't really heard the new album though. But their feuds with other bands has no effect on my appreciation for their music. As for the band apart from their music, I couldn't care less.
I am going to see them in January as part of this exciting festival lineup: http://www.bigdayout.com/lineup/artists.php

Their music is ok, as far as it goes. The first album was much better than the latest though. I also thought it ridiculous when Flowers proclaimed the album to be more American. It sounds exactly like the first one (very British), just nowhere near as good.
I wonder if the singer actually believes the CD to be the best of the last 20 years? I doubt it. It got him and the band a lot of press though. Probably sold a few albums too.
