Default Don Cherry cheered, booed at House of Commons

"Cherry's introduction by Commons Speaker Peter Milliken wasn't even complete before the chamber erupted with loud cheers from some members of Parliament.

Beyond showing their appreciation for Cherry, they were also trying to drown out the loud boos coming from the Bloc Québécois and other Francophone MPs."

To funny. Isn't it interesting how Anglo Canadians love him and Francophones (sp?) don't.

I don't.

And it isn't french vs English. French people would love him just as much as most people, except that he's said derogitory things about french.. I don't see how them not liking him is interesting.

I'd probably give him a bit of both. I disagree with most of what he has to say, but often he does have good things to say. Moreover I respect his ability and platform to say them, even if they are idiotic. Even still, the things he says arent hateful (like a lot of people today) just opinionated. The discussions he cause, and the backlash he causes, is important.

Maybe it's a Corbert sort of thing. Purposely inflaming and ludrcrous? He's just better at it. Haha.

what he said about french players was completly true.
what he said was something along the lines of french and european players hide behind visors. Then some research was done and it showed the highest percentage of players using visors were french and european.....fair enough

No he is a biggot, he calls out french and euro players for being pansy's, and praises Darcy Tucker the biggest pansy cheap shot artist in the league.

I hate Cherry.

Anyone notice that Cherry has been trying to smooch the French Canadian's behinds lately. He constantly refers to Vinny Lecavalier as the best player in the game, and was gushing over Ian Lapperiere this past week. Really though, the guy is going to get criticized by someone no matter what he say's. I like his little act with Ron Maclean, the hard nose worker mentality vs. the stiff suit. It's fun and only is for a few minutes a week.

It was funny 10 years ago, now I find it played out and just plain dumb. The only reason a guy with such an obvouisly low IQ continues to be on TV is that his act plays to the lowest common denominator within society. Mr Tough guy, your a pansy if you dont fight, your a pansy if you wear a visor, your a pansy if your not canadian. His whole little song and dance repulses me on every level.

I refuse to watch the TV anymore when he is on, but i would assume if he is kissing french a** its because the CBC told him to do so or his arse is off the air, he certainly hasnt had an epiphony and suddenly realized he is a biggot.

I might take it too seroiusly, but good forbid I was French I would call for the guys head. I just dont see a need to have him spew his garbage on national television every week. There is probably 50 ex head coach's or players that could impart more wisdom then him, and not half to offend half the viewing audience when doing so.

Who cares what a party that wants to break up Canada things or cheers about.

The Bloc is the enemy of Canada and their opinion should carry as much weight as those "Lebanese Canadians" who dont live in canada but bitched about how the FREE evacuation was handled.

Yep exactly and what's funny is people are too stupid to recognize that Cherry has parlayed this into a fortune. And really funny is some of the same people are all over other entertainers as you mentioned who do the same routine. People are so gullible it's hilarious. I'm sure Cherry just sits back and laughs at dufii like the Bloc Quebecois. Man what easy money -- I mean all the clues are there but still you have people(posters) who are just clueless and don't get it. The way over the top suits, the lovable dog, the nasty hockey player rules, Euro's suck, Frenchy's suck.

And some dufii still can't see it. Barnum was so right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nope, your giving him way too much credit, he is a moron. He may play it up a bit for TV but he is speaking his heart that is pretty clear.

He may play it up a bit? Did you ever consider changing your middle name to DUPED? or GULLIBLE? Are you always amazed at how much weight that strongman at the circus can lift?

A guy sitting RIGHT in front of you wearing a clown suit and doing his act and you figure it's right from the heart -- sheesh but Barnum would so love you.

The "clown" was almost fired because he wouldnt back down from his stupid views. We can debate this all day long but there is no way you can prove he is an evil genius and no way I can prove he is a bumbling idiot who fell into fame by playing "the tough guy".

One thing I will say though is that he has a grade 9 education and has proven his idiocy outside of coachs corner speaking out against dancers, yes ballet dancers, as well as his dumb public statments regarding politics. All signs point to dumba**.

Oh I can prove my point of view quite easily. In fact you proved it for me. Guy with a grade nine education and a mediocre career as a player and short tenure as a coach parlays a schtick into being rich and famous.

Guys like you who don't get it or the bozo Quebecois are his real stroke of genius. Plays you like a fiddle and has done it with nothing but bluster, goofy suits and a stinkin ugly dog.

LOL and still owns you.

I am not sure you understand the meaning of the word "proof". What you have described is nothing more then heresay and your OPPINION on the issue, its not proof at all.

From Dictionary.com: Proof:
1. evidence sufficient to establish a thing as true, or to produce belief in its truth.

PROVE to me with evidence that he doesnt just speak his mind, PROVE to me with evidence he is no more then a blithering idiot, PROVE to me with evidence he isnt just a goof ball that found his niche doing a TV segment during hockey games?

Well dont bother Johhny because you cant. You can have your oppinion, dont try and come across like its the gospel beacuse in your head it makes sense, you have no leg to stand on here.
