Default Fired manager: You're the best!

This has got to be a first. Joe Girardi, fired as manager of the Florida Marlins, gets the NL manager of the year award a few weeks later. Can anyone think of anything remotely similar happening in hockey?

Good call. I had forgot the Nolan firing was the same off-season as his award win. Similar reason, too -- a major blow-up with his superiors.

That whole situation is pretty funny. The owner and him did not get along. I truly hope that Florida sucks next year, horribly. Any time that an owners stuck up attitude gets in the way of a team, it ticks me righttt off.

And considering the owner in this case (and his worthless stepson) is the same doofus who screwed over the Expos and baseball in Montreal, it's pretty easy to choose sides in the Girardi thing.

Jeffrey Loria is the worst thing to happen to baseball since Charles Comiskey.

He's already driven one team out of its market, and is working hard at the second.

What was the story with Al MacNeil and the Habs way back. They won the Stanley Cup but than fired him as head coach or something like that.

Loria is a tool for sure.

won the Cup and was down on the farm team the next year. Henri Richard wasn't a big fan, that was part of the reason.

Ted Nolan was never fired in Buffalo. His contract expired and he was offered a low-ball contract (one year, $500k), which he refused.
