Default Video - Kid uses Echolocation to "See" - AMAZING

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=APRTkG__bww

This seems like it has to be a hoax... I'm speechless.

I can comprehend the pillow fight, the walking, and even the foseball. However playing video games from sound alone? That's by far the most naturally developed talent I've ever witnessed.

He showcases the incredible adaptability that humans possess. He has been without sight for most of his life and has found ways to function well without sight by using his other senses. It is an amazing feat and very likely one of the most impressive talents I have ever seen.

Daredevil does this too.

Echolocation has also been observed in terrestrial mammals, such as rodents, insectivores, Megachiroptera, and in nocturnal cave-dwelling oil birds and cave swiftlets (11). In the past fifty years, research has re vealed that the auditory system is a major tool of perception employed by blind humans.

Well it was a fighting game, so you'd have lots of feedback about what's going on by sound. I doubt he's all that good at it but heck my wife tends to beat me in those games just by mashing all the buttons

Tonnes of credit goes to his Mom... If more parents were able to instill the confidence in children the way she can, the world would be a better place.

Yeah this is so true. My two boys are fast on the buttons and can beat me at the fighting games with ease. But we put in FIFA or NBA and I crush them.

But back to the topic -- I've been expecting breakthrough's in how we use our senses(brain power) for years on end along with medical breakthroughs like curing cancer. There has been progress for sure but not at the breathtaking pace I thought it would occur.

This is not 'progress' or a 'breakthrough' at all. It's just the power of the human being to adapt to survive.

Trumps medical breakthroughs most days.

Yeah no doubt but I though we would have figured out how people make these adaptations by now and incorporated it into the lives of most of us.
