Crown okays smacking Oiler fan upside the head
Calgary Sun
No charges against the police officer as force used deemed appropriate for unruly Oiler fan this past spring.
No word on the future of the lawsuit.

The truth is we don't know what happened before those pictures were taken. I am willing to place money on her spitting on the cop. I don't feel sorry for any of the losers who were on Whyte just to cause problems.

The cop should have back handed her, what kind of a dude slaps, seriously.

I thought it was common knowledge that slapping a woman was OK in Edmonton?

What a headline: "SLAPPING WOMAN NO CRIME"
The one in the Herald was even better though, and it was on the front page: "Striking Oilers fan justified: Crown"

He said the officer had no choice but to use a police technique known as a "head stun" to gain control of the verbally abusive woman who was resisting arrest.
A backhand could've been construed as abusive in this case.

I think a head stun is a technique that police officers are trained to use.

Maybe this could be something that was done on a regular basis at BOA games in the Saddledome. They could have "Smack an Oilerfan in the Head NIGHT".

LOL @ head stun
It sounds like they've gave it a technical name so they can get away with what is really just a slap to the head.
Not sure why, but it reminds me of something Homer would do

No he wasn't.
And the police aren't making this term up for the purpose of this incident. If they wanted to make something up, maybe they would have come up with something better than "head stun"?

Yes, you are correct, they could have just called it, "Oilers bitchslap".
The headlines in the newspapers are classic!

How can an Oilers fan be stunned -- Isn't that their normal state?

From my own personal experience, the most 'liberal' use of force I have ever seen was Edmonton police at an oiler game.
Last year, as a flames fan was cheering on his way out of the stadium two oilers threw their beer on him and jumped him ... 2 vs 1. The flames guy was trying to fight back, the Edmonton cops jumped the flames guy (now 3 on 1) and beat him down. Totally unnessesary, and made me want to get out of that dump before anything bad happened to me.

And they wonder why bad things happen to them like that call last night. Too bad for them Karma really does exist.
