I have to disagree. Yes, career politicians can be absolutely despicable, but the overall essence of politics, and the importance of democracy is not to be taken lightly.

It doesn't change the absolute fact that Politics and religion are the top two reasons for every problem in the world today and since the dawn of time.

Good ole cooler comments. Those never get old. Never.

Bottoms up!

Actually resources is the number one reason... Secondly, there's no such thing as a world without politics that's why you have to be proactive and make peace prevail...

Politics and Religion are not the number one problem in the world, nor are resources.

Plain and simple: Human nature.

I disagree... Human Nature is a cause for sure but if everyone had what they wanted (impossibility) there would be no conflict...

actually and I hope your not typing a response... I change my answer to kind of agree I believe it is human's greed mixed with not enough resources...

Like insulting people about coolers on the internet. Way to be proactive *tssk*

You say resources... who wants these resources? It wouldn't be government would it? You mean Pearl Harbor was attacked because the Japanese hated Pineapples real bad?? C'mon now.

Are you really going to debate me that Japan wanted nothing out of the attack of Pearl Harbor?

btw anarchism which is what you seem to advocate is an impossibility on a large scale someone will take control so there is always going to be gov't and politics sorry you can't do anything about it...

I think it might have had a little more to do with the Japanese wanting to wipe out the American fleet so they would have little opposition when grabbing resource rich territories in the pacific and on the asian mainland...

Totally agree, the media has framed it and many have followed that politics is a swear word .. an not matter who is in power of a jurisdiction, especially federal, they will be ripped to shreds no matter what ... especially if they don't lean left.

Most of them just want to do what's right.

To start with....but most people end up wandering down the garden path after being in politics for several terms.

In every relationship, there are politics. The relationship between you and your parents is a political one... as a child, you are trying to get things out of your parents and your parents are trying to teach you to be a good citizen. A similar theory applies to every relationship you have. You cannot get away from politics. The political system is a way to manage the politics of your everyday relationships with others.

For example, without the political system, if everyone had what they wanted, it would be okay to abuse dogs and molest children... if that's what some people wanted. Because that infringes upon someone else's rights, it's a relationship that needs the political system to help negotiate it.

Bottom line is that while the political system can cause problems... (politicians are only human too!) it is not the root cause of every problem in the world today. I'm fairly certain that it wasn't the political system that prompted the kids in Didsbury to abuse that dog... or whatever.

Exactly FireFly.

Politics = the way people interact with eachother.
As long as there are people, there will be politics.
