Not the result we were looking for. Oh well - line changes can be made. We'll see if that does anything.

Anson Carter Answers Call
Panthers 5 Penguins 4

The battle of Newfoundland lived up to its hype on Thursday night when the Panthers once again beat thier bitter rivals, the Pittsburg Penguins. The game went back and forth all night long until Marty Straka put the game away at 18:11 of the third period.

"It was a back and forth game all night long" said Anson Carter. "We kept trading goals back and forth, it was very exciting."

Carter scored twice on the night, giving him a share of the league lead in goals with 4 in 3 games. The top line was also all over the place as Kovalchuk and Weight chipped in with goals of their own. Lidstrom continued his rock solid play logging 29 minutes of icetime. He was a +2 on the evening and is now +5 on the year.

The Panthers are now 3-0-0-0 heading into tomorrow night's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Goalie Statistics Manny Fernandez (PAN), 23 saves out of 27 shots, W, 3-0-0
Jose Theodore (PEN), 25 saves out of 30 shots, L, 1-2-0
Andrew Raycroft (PEN), 1 saves out of 1 shots

Power Play Conversions
PANTHERS 0 for 4
PENGUINS 1 for 5

Game Stars
1 - Anson Carter (PAN)

Senators return the Favor

After losing 2-0 the night before to the Habs it was the Senators turn to shut down the Habs.

Also a plus the Senators finally scored a goal. 2 in fact. Kozlov made a great individual effort on the games first goal. Something we hope to see more of from him.

Nik Boynton scored the games 2nd goal on a blast from the point.

Lehtonen finally gets rewarded for his good play with some offence.

Next up the Blues.

Pens drop another 1 goal game to the rival Panthers. Huge game tommorow against the B's.

Rangers 5 - Islanders 3

Rangers find a way to win another game but it prooves costly as Robert Lang leaves the game early with an undisclosed lower body injury. When Coach MacT was asked if Lang would play tomorrow.. MacT shrugged his shoulders and had no comment.

When MacT was asked if the Rumours were true that GM Flambers had pulled off a trade right after the game. MacT was quoted " would not shock me, I told him I need a DMAN that could run the Powerplay".

Its also known MacT and Ference did not get allong, so its a good bet Ference is gone.

Who's Hot --- Jagr
Who's Cold --- - Roloson

Who's banged up - - - - Lang

Next Game vs Islanders

Canadiens look for leader to bounce back...he failed and the Habs fell 2-0 to th Sens.
Mike Modano skated on the number one line Thursday night, one night after being benched for most of the game. He was given a chance to respond, while he didn't play bad, he wasn't inspired. Its starting to look like a battle of wills. Will Gainey get the most out of this elite forward? OR will Modano continue to collect his pay check and allow the other leaders on the club to carry the load?
After three games Modano has held the top forwards in check, however, he has failed to register offensvely.
The next few games will be a indicator as to who will win this battle in the locker room.

Default Leafs bounce back

The Leafs bounced back from a bad loss at home with a win in NJ, defeating the Debbies 6-2.

Datsyuk got his first goals of the year and Sean Avery chipped in with 2 goals less than a minute apart late in the 2nd period. Marty Turco also bounced back, stopping 26 of 28 shots.

The Leafs weren't totally dominant but definately got the job done. Nice to get back in the win column

Back to back versus the Rangers? Not good.
