Should we start a pool for NK's nuke test?

I pick never. You can't test something you don't have yet.

Its not in our best interest. I'd rather have no radioactive dust circulating through the entire world than know if they have nuclear weapons.

Meh, China won't let them. This is sabre rattling. They miss the attention that they used to get. I do believe that they have a couple of them though.

My question is...China wasn't all that concerned about Pakistan and India...why would they be any more concerned about NK.
IMO if NK does have them...it is in their best interest to show the worl they have them. No country will invade them if there is a chance one will be shot at SK. If others think they don't have them..well..there is more of a likely hood of another country intervening.

Because nobody has the influence over NK that China does. If NK does this against China's wishes it shows a chink in China's political armor.
China won't let this happen.

I dont agree that it is in their best interest to show them.... it would rally more people against them.... fact is... as long as they threaten and sabre-rattle they are more likely to get some appeasment from the UN and the European union... showing that they have the capability to explode a nuclear weapon will just mean a tougher stance against them.. especially from China and Russia who are right beside them.

It's a two way street I guess. They can extort the world for money and aid claiming they won't develop them if they are given this stuff...but it leaves them open to pre-emptive attacks to thrawt the actual development.
If they do develop them...then I don't think any country would be willing to take the risk of attacking them. Also they can hang these nukes over the heads of SK extorting them for aid.
Who knows what that crazy ******* is thinking.

True i can see it that way too.... most world leaders know he is a nut-job.... but think he is just bluffing so they are not reacting to him... i am not sure how world leaders will react to NK with nukes...
however nutjob + nukes = rouge nation from a Tom Clancy novel.... and i think that nations will try and limit the power NK gets from nukes by cutting them off and potentially attacking....
Regardless... this is a scary situation... and to me things are shaping up to be an Iranian - NK axis that can spell another world war.... two countries with rogue leaders hoping to capitalize on instability in their regions... and hoping the rest of the world makes concessions to them... scary...
Especially scary because the US is spread so thin now and the world for the most part is against their foreign policy.... i fear that China might be the "sleeping giant" of any new world war.... and it is uncertain what side she will fall on...

China has long enjoyed having North Korea as a barrier against having a democracy sitting on their border. But you gotta know that China isn't impressed by the idiot running North Korea. He certainly dosen't run things Chinese style. They have been very active in negotiations which isn't their style either -- they are losing face the longer the negotiations don't show fruit.
Also the North Koreans with all their crap are giving the Japanese who are already rapidly heading in that direction carte blanche to rearm. They already changed the law banning offensive weapons. North Korea doing nuke tests will give them all the ammo they need to really pickup the pace militarily and nothing gives Chinese the jitters like seeing the Japanese cranking up their army.
Frankly as a counter balance for the area I think the Japanese should be encouraged to really pick up their military spending and become a major power in that area again.

That or not having a crazy mofo who thinks he's God ruling NK.
Just saw on the news South Korea has detected a tremor measuring 3.2 coming from the crazies up north (not Edmonton).

I thought the Japanese military was effectively castrated by the American policies and Japan's Constitution after WWII. I'll bet a few people are kicking themselves about that right now. Let's see if this changes anything.
