Mel Gibson Sober for 65 days
http://jam.canoe.ca/Movies/2006/10/11/2000173-ap.html
"Years go by, you're fine," he says. "And then all of a sudden in a heartbeat, in an instant, on an impulse, somebody shoves a glass of Mescal in front of your nose and says, 'It's from Oaxaca.' And it's burning its way through your esophagus and you go, 'Oh man, what did I do that for? I can't put the toothpaste back in the tube."
"The last thing I want to be is that kind of monster," he tells Sawyer in the interview.
I don't know Mel; seems to me alcohol acts like a truth serum for most people. Did the alcohol make you a monster, or did you just reveal your true feelings?

I've heard Mr. Gibson say he's sorry, and that he's wrong, and others say, well, he was drunk, he's got a disease, etc. But my question is, what is the root of this, Mel? I mean, we all say crazy things when we're drunk, and we've all undoubtedly had ugly moments when we're superstressed out and then drunk on top of it, I know I have - but what comes out at that moment isn't a tirade against the Jews. Yes, liquor releases demons, but I want to know why the demon in Mel Gibson is hatred of the Jews to begin with . . .

True feelings, IMO. People are just so used to supressing their true feelings (like grabbing a hot woman's ass, telling someone what you really think of them) that when they release this stuff while drunk, they think its 'out of character'. I think when you're wasted like that you do what you want, not what you should... most of the time people only know themselves as doing what they should, so they surprise themselves when they do what they want (under the influence).

I wonder how many days it's been since he was an anti-semite. Probably 0.

Related funny video clip: Dennis Leary doing a bit of color commentary during a Red Sox game. On topic because Mel comes up.

Well I know there is the "crowd" who won't be going to Mel Gibson movies or Tom Cruise movies etc. If I never went to the movies or listened to the music etc. of people who did weird(sick whatever) stuff I'd be watching a whole lot less movies and listening to less music.
If either of them or others next movie/song is good I'm watching and listening.

I don't avoid mel gibson movies because he's an anti-semite, I avoid them because they are terrible.
I don't avoid woody allen movies because he married his adopted daughter, because his movies are good.

From what I remember this was during the Israel- Lebanon war and lots of people here, were taking sides. The Jewish topic just didn't come out of thin air and doesn't show that Gibson has deepseated hatred of Jews, although he may have. He's sure in deep doodoo though considering the Jewish influence in Hollywood.

Are you saying jews control the media?
I'm a vocal opponent of israel, classifying myself as an anti-zionist, but never once have I ever said something as outlandish as 'the jews are responsible for all the wars in the world.' That reeks of deep-seeded anti-semitism, an issue he has carefully removed from his public persona. To those who paid attention during his passion phase, anti-semitism and mel aren't exactly distant aquaintances, as can be seen by his father's preposterous holocaust denial.
Thousands of celebrities have been caught driving drunk, and it isn't really an issue. It's the crazy anti-semitism that made this a news story.

I do. I couldn't care less if it were the best reviewed movie ever made, he's a sick ****, I'll never watch any of his work.
