Default MP3 Question

Question for you tech heads.

I just bought my first mp3 player and I also bought an FM transmitter so I could use it in my car. I've got the car sterio set to the designated place on the FM dial, but the music is barely coming through...I can just fately hear it beyond the static.

Any ideas what the heck I'm doing wrong?

How high is the volume set on the mp3 player? That could be a factor. But if your hearing static then it might say one freq. and be on another. If its on the right freq. you shouldn't hear anything untill the music is on.

I had a feeling it was something incredibly stupid like that.

Thanks
