The Commonwealth of HannaJack
"It's a great day for hockey!"
UN Category: Corporate Bordello
Civil Rights:Excellent
Economy:Thriving
Political Freedoms:Superb
The Commonwealth of HannaJack is a tiny, socially progressive nation, renowned for its absence of drug laws. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 5 million are effectively ruled by a group of massive corporations, who run for political office and provide their well-off citizens with world-class goods and services. Their poorer citizens, however, are mostly starving to death while being urged to go out and get real jobs. The populace has reasonably extensive civil rights, although these are mostly aimed at allowing them to buy whatever they like.
The small, pro-business government juggles the competing demands of Defence, Law & Order, and Commerce. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 5%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Cheese Exports, Information Technology, and Uranium Mining industries.
Crime is a major problem, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. HannaJack's national animal is the hedgehog and its currency is the shtiner.

The Democratic Republic of Flamesdom is a tiny, socially progressive nation, renowned for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 5 million are either ruled by a small, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.
There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded individuals juggles the competing demands of Commerce, Law & Order, and Religion & Spirituality. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Soda Sales, Woodchip Exports, and Trout Farming industries.
Crime is a major problem. Flamesdom's national animal is the harvey the hound, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the dollar.

The Grand Duchy of Western Octothorpia
"Part of a complete breakfast."
UN Category: Corrupt Dictatorship
Civil Rights: Below Average
Economy: Developing
Political Freedoms: Few
Location: ALLIED CP
Regional Influence: Minnow
The Grand Duchy of Western Octothorpia is a tiny, safe nation, notable for its compulsory military service. Its compassionate, cynical population of 5 million are ruled with an iron fist by the dictatorship government, which ensures that no-one outside the party gets too rich. In their personal lives, however, citizens are relatively unoppressed; it remains to be seen whether this is because the government genuinely cares about its people, or if it hasn't gotten around to stamping out civil rights yet.
The enormous, socially-minded government juggles the competing demands of Healthcare, Social Welfare, and Education. The average income tax rate is 38%, but much higher for the wealthy. A small private sector is led by the Gambling industry, followed by Book Publishing and Soda Sales.
Crime -- especially youth-related -- is well under control. Western Octothorpia's national animal is the octothorpian lichen, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the ningi.

Ok, I tried to do this to fit my ideals. Here's what I ended up with:
The People's Republic of Evmanistan
"Free thought, free speech, equality for all."
UN Category: Left-wing Utopia
Civil Rights: World Benchmark
Economy: Fragile
Political Freedoms: World Benchmark
The People's Republic of Evmanistan is a tiny, environmentally stunning nation, notable for its strong anti-business politics. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 5 million are free to do what they want with their own bodies, and vote for whoever they like in elections; if they go into business, however, they are regulated to within an inch of their lives.
It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, liberal, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it devotes most of its attentions to Social Welfare, with areas such as Law & Order and Religion & Spirituality receiving almost no funds by comparison. The average income tax rate is 54%, and even higher for the wealthy. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Trout Farming.
Crime is totally unknown. Evmanistan's national animal is the elk, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the atheic.
