The Atlanta Thrashers and Winnipeg Jets made a deal Friday evening. It breaks down as follows:

To Atlanta:

C - Bryan Smolinski

To Winnipeg:

C - Andrew Cassels
RW - Jordin Tootoo
D - Jamie McBain

Additional Notes: If Cassels retires in the 2006-2007 season, a 3rd round pick will be sent to the Jets.

The Jets feel they make fairly well in this deal. Cassels is able to step in and replace Smolinski, Tootoo is along shot to be a big impact type player but he is young and should fit in on this team, McBain is a prospect who may turn into an okay defenceman.
