Default AnitMatter Discovery

Pretty cool discovery. Now I am just waiting until they discover Bizarro World

Antimatter discovery could launch new era of physics

The discovery that a bizarre particle travels between the real world of matter and the spooky realm of antimatter 3 trillion times a second may open the door to a new era of physics, Fermilab researchers announced Monday.

The incredibly rapid commuting rate of the B sub s meson particle had been predicted by the Standard Model, the successful but incomplete theory aimed at explaining how matter and energy interact to form the visible universe. After 20 years of trying, scientists have now confirmed the rate, providing strong evidence for the theory.

Cool.. first year university physics never really taught me what implications this could have, but I have heard the term enough times to know its cool.

I read that entire article and I don't understand what was found lol...how do you 'find' something that doesn't exist? obviously im not a physics PhD, but the whole thing sounds bogus to me...convinient timing as well, with the lab in danger of being shut down. Reminds me of Dan Brown's latest novel, "Deception Point"

What the heck do you mean "doesn't exist".

They just proved 2 things

1) that a certain type of particle exists
2) that it behaves how it was predicted to behave

I don't think you understood what it was that you were reading.

Thanks for deciding on that for me. I must not have made myself clear when opening my post with 'i just read the entire article and I don't understand what was found'.

You on the other hand sound to be the second coming of Einstein.

The point that they found a certain particle which they had expected to find is not the confusing part of the article, I was simply making a general statement that science experiments/discoveries are becoming extremely complex.

Actually you should read his book Angels and Demons. It is about the illuminati stealing anti matter.

The point I was making is that you asked how you find something that doesn't exist, which kinda goes to show that you didn't understand what the article was saying. That's cool, I was trying to explain it.

Or do you care to explain to me the basis you have for declaring that what they found doesn't exist?

Moreover, you're inplying that this research facility is making up results because they fear being closed down. If you have no idea what it is they claim to have discovered then what basis do you have for making this claim?

Finally, I'm not entirely sure how anyone could take
"the whole thing sounds bogus to me...convinient timing as well, with the lab in danger of being shut down" to be a general statement that these discoveries are becomming extremely complex.

If you were cool with it why did you word your post "what the heck do you mean"...it sounded like you were personally offended by my post, not that you were cool with it.

Anyways enough of that...Superflyer, I've been meaning to read that...although right now university text's are about all I can handle.
