Gamers help!
Okay, I need some help here.
I took my brother and sister to this computer gaming place that is really humid and smells like lipton cup o'soup. I am here for another 2 and a half hours and I have no idea what all these games are about, I mean there's all these strategy games that everybody seems to be playing but I don't really understand. For the last half an hour I've been playing pac man or donkey kong, and my extent of computer games is mindsweeper. They have hundreds of games and I was wondering if anybody can recommend or tell me a little bit about these games.
Help?!?!

Usually at an internet cafe, you would play something like Counter-Strike, Warcraft 3, or other first person shooters and real time strategy games that are fantasy or world war II related, etc. You don't have to go online and play against other people.
Just find a game title you find interesting and see what it's about and play by yourself. You can see the controls, watch the movies, engage in the story, and just enjoy yourself.

So i'm assuming this is for PC? How old are they? Games that I prefer are Warcraft III Frozen Throne, NHL 07... But if you're talking about Pac Man, and DK... errm.... They aren't really great on PC IMO. Stuff such as mario kart double dash, mario golf/tennis (really really fun) are great games for the Gamecube. I saw someone selling a gamecube on the buy/sell area. For little kids, whenever I need to baby sit, I give them a gamecube, and they'll play that for hours and hours.

If you want, give us a list of what games they have there? Should be icons on the desktop or something and maybe we can suggest something.

most of those games require a fair amount of time to learn and play. Probably just stick with donkey kong.

Usually when you learn one FPS, you learn em all... or that is the case for me. I started with CS, then everything else becomes pretty easy. If you're looking for shooting games... defintley invest in CS, everyone plays it haha But if you want to control things etc. Warcraft is probably the best pick. Halo is a pretty good pick too, or so I hear, I've only played it a couple of times.

Just play Call of Duty or United Offensive. That's probably the most straightforward and cinematically entertaining game.
It's like being put inside the Saving Private Ryan movie. A great WWII game.
If you don't like first person shooters, try a strategy game like Age of Empires, Age of Mythology, or Starcraft. If you like Science Fiction, homeworld is a fantastic game to play. Most of these games should have tutorial or training missions.

Have any of you guys played operation flashpoint? That game was awesome. Very realistic. If you got shott in the leg, you would fall on the ground and have to crawl.

Okay, so far the United Offensive is decent.
This might sound like a stupid question, but are there any games where it's not all killing?
Girly question, I know...

Haha.....thats a good question. The only ones I can think of that dont involve some form of violence are board games, cardgames or trivia games. Oh and flight sim.

Civilization 4 (its not really killing, just conquest) and the Sims are 2 games that aren't violent which come to mind.
Those might be there.

The ones I put in bold were games I really enjoied, weather they're your cup of tea or not is up to you. That's also not to say the games that aren't in bold are bad games, mostly I just haven't played them.

HALO isn't bad, but I think I am going to try that Starcraft.
These games are like epic movies. Man, things have changed since the days of my Nintendo Entertainment System!
Thanks for your help everyone.
