How was the Mars Volta? That's who I would have wanted to see. Although I've heard their sound is not really suited for arenas/stadiums.

All I have to say is unfreakinbelieable the concert was. Best concert I have seen in a long long time. Chilli Peppers had the dome just rocking.

We went, it was an swesome show, loved the visual effects--my ears are still ringing. We hated the opening act though; worst 'music' I've ever heard, thank goodness for cell phones with mp3 players built in!

the mars volta seemed to have some talent, but like others have said, worst mixing i have ever heard.

i was very very impressed with flea's wicked sense of timing.

and john frusciante's lack thereof.

he does sing some pretty amazing harmony vocals, though.

i almost cried when they played "hump de bump"

awesome show, never seen so many lights and stuff onstage before. john frusciante and flea got some amazing chemistry onstage together...

Frusciante is a god!!

The Mars Volta had bad sound... i have seen them before where the sound was good and it was unbeleivable...

Problem is that opening bands never have good sound in the big stadiums.

Overall the chili peppers put on a damn good show.

was there any doubts at all that chilli peppers would put on a bad show. Type of band that has so many good songs that you wish they would play for 4 hours instead of 2.

It was cool how they did the jam sessions in between songs and portions of some covers. Good concert, but not the best I've been to.

I caught the show in Vancouver.

I am big Volta fan, but I have to agree that they did not sound as good as what they are capable of. Not the right sound setup for them. They are amazingly talented, and I look forward to catching them when they headline.

The Peppers put on a decent show. I was kind of dissapointed with SA, I hated the single and nothing off the album really knocked me off my feet - though there were a few good tracks.

To be honest, despite the musical talents, I don't know how many more songs about California I can handle...

I've had enough.

They do however have a pretty impressive catalogue of songs, and I would not call the show overall a dissapointment, it was quite good. I was speaking more to the general direction they have taken as a band, in praticular the lyrics.

Was anyone else really let down by the last double disc?
Stadium Arcadium.

I thought it blew some serious goats.

that was an awesome show. I was a little bit disapointed they didn't play a few songs, but that didn't damper the evening. the Mars Volta was... interesting. stage rocked.... trippy as hell.

Mars Volta won't translate that well in a big arena rock venue. But, see them at a smaller venue and you won't be disappointed.

They were better when they were with the guys from Sparta and called At the Drive In. But, all good things must passed. At the Drive In played a show in my friends house in Amarillo in 1997 that still goes on the top of my list as the best show I've ever seen.

15x15 room 50+ sweaty kids plus vocalist doing flips off the walls. It was incredible....

I agree. 3 decent songs, and the rest was a total wash IMO.

I disagree. You must not have listened to it enough. There is nothing completely mindblowing like Under the Bridge on it, but nearly all the songs are pretty stellar. I would have to say SA is there best album next to BSSM and Californication. Some good singles (which they havent decided to play on video for some reason) include:

Snow (hey oh)
Slow Cheetah
Wet Sand
Especially in Michigan
Desecration Smile
21st Century
Storm in a Teacup
She Looks to Me
