Flights to Europe
Started searching for flights to London, leaving in May for 2 weeks and this is the best I have found. Also travelling to Paris, Madrid and Rome, but it seems like London is always the cheapest place to fly into.
Calgary to London;
Air Canada - $2019
Expedia - $2491
Travel Cuts & British Air - $2379
ITravel2000 - $2397
Still 7 months away, I seriously thought I could get a better price. 3 years ago I paid $1200 just for myself and I bought 3 weeks before flying.
Any other places I should look into? Ideas?
Thanks

Seems to me that's a little expensive. I flew to London a year ago and for a round trip ticket I think I paid about 1,500. Mind you I flew with... Air Transat I believe it was, so the seats were very squished together.

A quick search from Calgary to London in May for 2 weeks brought up the lowest result of $1009. There's some low prices here and an added bonus is you help out our CP buddy Sample00!

It's a little early to be searching for bargain fares -- Air Canada will usually advertise their seat sales 3 or 4 months in advance. Right now, you're paying for the privledge of having your choice of dates / flight times.... I can pretty much guarantee that those prices will drop significantly sometime in January, so I'd advise waiting a few months before booking.

Those are crazy prices. Look into flying to Frankfurt on Condor, then connect to London from there.

Keep an eye on http://www.canadian-affair.ca/ as well. My friends Mom went over there to visit him a couple weeks ago and paid just over $400 return.

Damn, some good info here guys, thanks.
I'm going to keep checking and following the fares when they go down.
Kevan, they're quoting $1476 for two people. That's over $500 cheaper than Air Canada. Nice!

Thats insane. I just went to Europe, and paid about 1000 bucks including insurance for a return flight from Calgary to Frankfurt. You can get a EuroRail pass and then travel all over Europe with that pass once you get to Frankfurt, if you chose to go there.
BTW, if you are going all the way out there and if you get a chance check out Berlin!

Have you flown Condor? If so how was it? Next year I'm looking at a trip landing in Germany(Berlin) and then heading east.

I did the Canadian Affair in July this year. Only thing is they fly to Gatwick and not Heathrow (some may say this is an advantage). They are OK, a little squashed, the company uses Thomas Cook or My Travel aircraft. There is a rumour out there that they may have been bought out by Air Transat, next year?? I have never flown on Zoom. Air Canada is OK on the London route with quite a generous seat pitch at 34" (space between seats) in economy!

Check British Airways, they will likely have a sale promoting the new direct YYC-LHR routing. Also try YEG-LHR, same deal on the likely sale promoting new service and since its only a 2 class compared to 3 class for YYC you might likely get a better deal.
You might want to try KLM to AMS (YVR), LH to FRA, etc. Then take Easyjet to LGW/STN.
Keep in mind that May-August is the busy month for travel to Europe in General.

Air Transat SUCKS. I flew them once, and my seat was broken, tray table was broken, and I got the worst case of food poisoning/swamp ass of my life.
Avoid at all costs IMO

Wait until December!
Like someone else said, British Airways is starting 5-day a week direct service so they will have seat sales and should also help depress prices thereafter.
They also are supposed to be using new 777's which are awesome planes! Sometimes if it is only an extra $100-$200, it is worth it to fly direct and/or with a prestige carrier. I mean, how much is your time and comfort worth? Their must be some price?
Claeren.
