What a difference a year makes. When Droopy took over the Bolts there were a bunch of has-beens and never-will-bes with only a handful of desirable NHL players.
This was the roster as of May 1st 2005.
LW - C - RW
Line 1: Pyatt / Smolinski / Sundstrom
Line 2: Bartecko / Connolly / Hemsky
Line 3: Lindgren / Green / Kobasew
Line 4: C. Johnson / Boguniecki / C. Johnson
Top Prospects
Harding (G)
Crawford (G)
Mike Morris (RW)
Fast forwarding a year and a bit, the Lightning are hoping to challenge for a playoff spot in the Gretzky conference.

Line 2: Gratton / Zhamnov / Nolan
Line 3: R. Robitalle / Bulis / Kozlov
Line 4: Hinote / M. Koivu / Hagman
Top Prospects

With more fire power up front, better defenders and a solid #1 goaltender the CPHL’s whipping boy of 2005-06 has made a statement that there will be no easy points in Lightning games this season.
GM Droopy is looking for scoring and leadership from the likes of Recchi, Hejduk and J.R. and on the back end there is a wealth of experience to make sure Toskala doesn’t get hung out to dry like his predecessors.
C Mark Recchi has been named the team’s Captain.
A A Jeremy Roenick and Rhett Warrener will serve as Alternates.
As has long been the policy with the Bolts, (at least since GM Droopy’s hiring) nobody is untouchable. The players know that they should not get complacent as Lightning management are always looking to improve in all areas of the organization.
Game on!
