Tiger Woods is on fire
5 tournament victories in a row? Are you kidding me?
He's on an unbelievable run. I guess that's what missing the cut for the first time in forever will do for the guy!

Tiger just wrapped up his 8th PGA Player of the Year award in the last 10 years. We are witness to greatness - savour his career. He will go down in history as one of the greatest sportsmen of all time.

I'm not debating the quote, but is golf a sport? Billiards?
I would tend to say yes to golf, but no to billiards, but I can't give a specific reason why.

you don't have to walk 10km to play a game of pool?
I was going to start a similar thread, Dis. The only person who can beat Tiger these days is my character on the Tiger Woods PGA 2006 game.
It's gotta scare the crap out of the competition that it isn't just the long driver that he's using to beat them up with, he can put that away and skewer you with his iron game as well.

I think Tiger has made it a sport. He works out and lifts weights like crazy, and most golfers now have to follow suit if they want to be competitive.
Normally though, I would not consider a game a sport if it does not make you sweat, or raise your heart rate over a certain threshold, or if your score is based in any part on artistic merit. Ex. darts, bowling, billiards, figure skating, platform diving, auto racing.
I do wish fans were allowed to make noise on the golf course and at the tennis court. Athletes should be able to block out the noise.

If there was a steady noise then it probably wouldn't be an issue. I know from playing sports, if there is a crowd I can tune it out, but if there are only a few people I tend to notice it.

I think it is his putting that is killing everyone on this streak. He seems to be really in the zone for those 20-30 ft putts.

No doubt Woods is absolutely on fire these days. The advances in golf equipment have given everyone on the planet the oppurtunity to improve their game. But the fact remains that Tiger Woods is always a step ahead of his peers. The way he has dominated the sport is enough to convince me that he will go down as the greatest ever in the game. Whether or not you consider that game a sport is another topic.

Its a sport but you dont have to be a total athlete like guys in the NFL, NHL, NBA or MLB.
Tiger Woods does dominate the game however and should be considered one of the greats.
