Ti-Cats Fire Offensive Coaches
http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Football/C...781421-cp.html
Hamilton was terrible. This can't all be blamed on the coaches. Too bad, because HAM has good ownership now.
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats, who've failed to score a touchdown in three embarrassing home losses, fired offensive co-ordinator Joe Paopao and offensive line coach Kani Kauahi on Monday.
Interim coach Ron Lancaster, offensive assistant Perry Marchese and player-personnel director Craig Smith will now handle the offensive coaching duties, according to the team. The Ticats also expect to add another offensive coach soon.

Paopao spoke with CKNW in Vancouver and said the results of the teams last three games were the basis of the firing.
"It's not easy but I understand it's a business," said Paopao. "It showed over the last three games and that's what they based it on. That's the tough business we're in.
Maybe McManus should go back, and be a coach.

Kent Austin perhaps?
This seems like one of those "we can't fire all the players so we'll swap the coaches" moves. A lot of this has to fall on the players and a sizable chunk on dumbo Maas. He seems oddly confused out there after looking acceptable last season.

I've heard rumblings of Austin replacing Barrett for next season in Sask. Who knows, though.

seems like they need to fire their defensive coaches, too. They are just brutal.

Yeah, the offence isn't the only problem in Hamilton. Their defence has given up 97 points in 2 games, and have given up over 300 points in 11 games. I think the problem starts with the GM, who is a great marketer but doesn't have the connections down south to find impact players.

Stephen Brundt was saying on Mike Richards this morning that when the new ownership took over the fans were sold on a 3 year plan and an associated 3 year ticket package. This year is the third year. Ouch. Expect trouble selling tickets in Hamilton.

Ti-Cats are about top announce the hiring of a new permanent GM. Will it be Roy Shivers?
http://www.sportsnet.ca/football/cfl...829_094551_568
Tiger-Cats chief operating officer Rob Katz has found a general manager for the CFL team and is stepping down as interim GM, according to CHML.
The Tiger-Cats called a news conference for 11:30 a.m. ET Tuesday to make a "major announcement."

Nice move. Bring a local boy back home.
Now if only they had kept Marshall. It is more than obvious it wasn't his fault for this crappy team, and Marshall had built up some good will turning McMaster around (not that Hamilton cares much about Mac).

Class of '92 (interesting, I notice my advanced micro economics prof, Alan Harrison, is now at U of C as VP of Academics (or something like that)).
I stand by what I said. Unless things have changed, Mac gets very little attention in Hamilton. A few bars may put up a few posters around campus, but other than that Main St W & Westdale are the only areas that even recognizes that Mac exists (unless they need to go to the hospital).

Now I understand your comment. Too bad about Mac. I went to Western, and the Mustangs were huge in London.

I grew up just outside London, so I know all about that. Mustangs get a lot of coverage on CFPL right from the pre-season. Marauders get little, if any, coverage on CHCH. (Maybe it's because during the homecoming game one year, CHCH was showing it as the Game of the Week. Dick Beddoes (a Hamilton icon) was doing an interview on the sidelines, so a bunch of us stood behind him and chanted "Dick beats his wife")
