and another whooping of the kitties by Da Riders
Riders GM, Shivers, was fired last night. I say the timing was bad. It might motivate the team to do better for the rest of the season, but after they spanked Hamilton, I don't know if it was as influential as it could've been.
Rumors were going around that Shivers was given the word by the Board to get rid of Barret this week, but that was incorrect.

Stamps @ Als - are the Als capable of losing 3 in a row, especially on home turf? The answer is yes. Stamps put together another solid, but nailbiting performance
Argos @ Bombers- calf's lock of the week - no Stegall = no Hope...Argos take it easily
Riders at Ti-Cats - because the Ti-Cats will learn to tackle this week. JoeJoe PaoPao will learn how to design an effective offensive game plan. Jason Maas will learn how to throw a completion. His receivers will learn how to catch. And the Shivers firing will not have any sort of effect...Danny Barrett is the next to get the axe after this week.
Bonus Prediction - Red Mile Style will pick against the Stamps, but for the Riders...Predictable
...edit - she beat me to the punch, but I'm still right

I thought I read that Shivers was told to get rid of Barrett last week, he refused, which was part of the reason for the firing. The other reasons being there's 17 players in their option year, meaning he was going to hold a gun to the BoD's heads that they wouldn't sign if he wasn't there at the end of the season...this was a pro-active move.

I think it will be a nail biter again, Calgary will prevail!
Yeah, Bombers have no Stegall, but they will pull some moves on the old boaters and send them back to sea!
And the Green Riders will smoke them again... something Calgary should have done a few weeks back!!

Nice prediction calf... Too bad your prediction about the Riders losing three in a row was wrong...
Yeah, I heard that Shivers was standing behind Barrett and I figured that's why he got the axe, but my Dad told me he read somewhere that wasn't true. I watched the game (thank-you digital! No blackout for me!) on cbc and I heard them say that, but if it was true I think they probably would've fired Barrett too.
I think more information will be available tomorrow, but from what I've read/watched, the timing has more to do with an available GM than anything. That guy who might go to Ottawa... Tillman or something.
I think the worst thing to do in the middle of the season is to straight out fire the coach, that can't be good for morale. Barrett now has real motivation for getting some wins, and if he doesn't win a Grey Cup, he's gone. A coach rarely is placed before a GM, so even then, it's only a matter of time.

Stampeders at Montreal
- stamps come through with another heroic finish by Sandro The Great
Toronto at Winnipeg
- blue bombers barely pull one out on the back of the fans at home, and I mean barely
Saskatchewan at Hamilton
- trouble in the land of the green riders spells loss for Danny B. and 3rd stringer Rocky Butler

Battle for first place!
Well, tonight's game is just underway and there's quite a race for first place in the CP CFL Pool. First place will be 23 points; and here's the breakdown for everybody going into tonight's game; with the persons picks colour coded- green for Riders and Black for Ti-cats. Everybody has 22 points after the first 2 games this week.
FlamesRule14
Calf
Ken0042
I H8 Crawford
Flickered Flame
Pope04
And of course an honourable mention at 21 points is KevanGuy and JiriHrdina.
So after all that I am forced to say Go RIDERS!
(OK, now I just threw up a little.)
