Default Stamps vs. Als

Anyone else watching? Probably one of the better efforts that the stamps have put forth this season to this point AND the game has been entertaining as hell.

Gadget plays left and right by the stamps, really have set the Als up, so the Als Defense is running around in mass confusion for the most part. Burris has been very solid in the 2nd half.

Now, 40-23. Looks like the stamps might have just iced it.

I turned the game on late in the 3rd, when it was 17-14 for the Als. It's just been a total domination since then.

This is the best I've seen the Stamps play in a long time.

Bring on the Schmoes on Labour Day.

Can anybody explain to me why Cates was ruled as an ineligible receiver on that fake field goal? I heard Dunnigan say something about it being caused by Chevrier somehow, but I couldn't make sense of it.

Something to do with Cates not reporting to the refs that he would be eligible before the play. I don't understand this rule - isn't it giving it away if the other team sees you reporting to the refs before the play?

Great win by the Stamps. But it only matters how you play in November.

I was listening to the first quarter on QR77, and the explanation they gave wasn't necessarily Cates' fault, but rather Chevrier went too far up field to block making him the inelligible receiver.

If it's because the Refs weren't told before hand that he was going to line up as a receiver, then it's total BS - the Refs should be able to tell where someone is lined up.

Either way, some tense moments soon after Hank's INT in the 2nd quarter, but man, way to be resililiant and totally explode on offence - great game.

Bring on the Esks!

Did anyone watch the pregame show? They were supposed to do an interview with Sandro... how was it? I tried to tape it but lost track of time

It wasn't Cates fault or the refs... it was Chevrier going too far down field on a pass play to block. He hit someone before the pass was made so it was an illegal block that brought it back.

Fun Game! All those trick plays are fun and really entertaining, except for the 20202 fans at Molson tonight! It kinda too bad they don't pull those out more often, I guess it is what the opponent gives you if you decide to do it or not!

Now onto the Labour day classic! Man I hope we really lay a butt whoopin on them this year and sweep them! They've gotten us enough this century so far!

I only saw the first half and thought the Stamps looked OK. Wow, looks like I missed a helluva second half.

It would appear they played like the team most of us thought we'd see in 2006. I won't mind the slow start to the season if we finish strong.

Tried to watch as much of the game as I could...left midway through the 3rd quarter.

I was pretty nervous after that Burris INT in the 2nd...thought they would fall apart from there. My oh my was I ever wrong.

I watched the whole game start to finish and it was highly entertaining. Calgary's trick plays were hilarious and worked every time! And then as soon as they made the play TSN would zoom in on Montreal's coach (embarassingly this name escapes me right now) and he was in a constant state of anger! Classic.

The stamps offence looked like an allstar team. Bobsled endzone celebration? Awesome.

"They did a brilliant job," Matthews said. "Coming off the bye week, a lot of their tricks worked and got us on our heels. No way were we prepared for all those tricks."

http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Football/C...75711-sun.html

"I've always told the players I'm not a gambler," Higgins said. "But if something presents itself and the odds are in your favour, we'll go with it.

"Craig did an excellent job. That was as well-coached of a game as I've seen in a long time."

Finally, the Stamps coaching staff is as imaginative its receiving corps is with its touchdown celebrations and two beauties were used last night.
To honour Montreal's famous gentleman's clubs, Rambo rode the goalpost like a dancer.

Then Copeland straddled the endzone marker with the rest of his group behind him in a mock bobsled run.

The group went side to side to emulate turns and even put their heads down in unison.

I loved the bobsled celebration. I'm glad the CFL allows these.

Now that was a much better effort from Burris. The TD pass to Rambo in the fourth quarter was a thing of beauty. Well done. Lets hope we can keep the ball moving like that on Labour day and beyond. This team is getting better!

I loved the TD celebration from Copeland and Co. this week. Very funny.

That Rambo TD pass was the biggest dressing down of a defense I've seen by the Stamps all year. I love how the ref even gave the Rambo the TD before he crossed the line. Ha ha!

The big question for Labour Day is:

What dance can Copeland and crew come up with that says "You guy so suck!"

Yeah, they are getting to be one of the most looked to parts of the game for me! I guess we need a thread with best/worst endzone dances/stunts. Maybe if we could get a vote together for them to do the fans favourite at the last regular home season game would be pretty cool!

That was one of the best played games by the Stamps in a long time, well since 2 weeks ago. Probably the best all round performance this year. The team is starting to click. I just can't wait to see what they can do against BC later in the year.
