Sharks Make 2 Deals

The San Jose Sharks are pleased to announce the acquisitions of Brian Boucher and Drew Stafford.

Boucher joins the team via a deal with the Ducks for a 2008 4th rounder. Meanwhile Stafford arrives along with a 2007 4th in excahnge for Petr Vrana.

GM Jeff Farnet had this to say.

"Brian is still a good back up and this organization needs more assets to work with so giving up a late round pick a year from now seemed good. Stafford is a kid we like and think has a very good chance of being a top 6 forward for us"

The club is rumored to be considering other moves but thus far has not received offers tempting enough to move the few good players that remain with San Jose.

Sabres are happy to welcome Vrana back to the fold, and thank the 3 headed Shark GM monster for smooth trade talks.

"In a bigger trade last spring where we acquired Smolinski and Rolston, the Sharks GM insisted on us including Vrana who was having a good year for us at the time . No other names would suffice, eventually that led to us asking for Stafford. Now it only seems fair to reverse the deal. It is likely that Stafford's long term outlook is better than Vrana's, but we are ok with this deal" said GM Loooooob

Petr Vrana scored 23 goals in the CPHL last season with Buffalo and San Jose. It is believed that Looooob may even give him first line icetime with Prospal and Rolston in the summer tourney.
