Default Trip To Yankee Stadium

Just got back a few days ago from a trip to New York, got the absolute pleasure of watching the Yankees slap the Blue Jays around for 3 games in a disgusting fashion. However, Yankee Stadium itself was worth the price of admission.

-The Jays did decide to play some of the worst ball of the year. I saw in total the Jays score 2 runs as I was not around to see Glaus's 2 run HR in the 9th when they we're down 8-0 in the second game as I decided to leave in the 8th. The one highlight was Ryan Roberts first major league hit which also was his first major league home run. Also a Johny Mac RBI single, which turned out to be the 15 minutes which the Jays had the lead in the entire series.

-Jays players we're pretty nice in autographs and talking to fans. Your not allowed to get anywhere close to the dugouts during BP however a few pitchers warming up in the outfield we're nice enough to come chat. Got to get autographs from BJ Ryan and Scott Downs.

- First game had amazing tickets about 15 rows up from first base. Went early that day with buddys to go and check out monument park. A must see for any baseball fans out there, amazing to see how many great players the Yankees have produced

- Everyone is aware the Yankees have one of the best history's in all of sports, but god knows they won't let you forget. Every add on the big screen or t-shirt it seems has to remind people that the Yankees have a crap load of rings.

- It doesen't take long before you dislike Yankee fans either. In the first game, A-rod is met with cheers all around when he comes up to bat. After he grounds out, the fans are calling for his head. Jeter may go 0-5 and A-rod could go 4-5, Jeter won't hear a single boo and A-rod will get rained on for his one groundout. A lot of Yankee fans also seem to be a little narrow minded when it comes to players outside of New York. Alex Rios was met with a collective "who is this guy, send him back to the minors."

- As a whole however, the fans really do add to the experince. The place is never quiet, every at bat is made exciting. You can see how playing in front of 50 thousand plus screaming fans a night could really help a team in comparison to just over 20. The atmosphere is all it is built up to be

- As for taunting, Yankee fans we're not that bad at all. I think it has to do with the fact they're use to thousands of Red Sox fans at some games, and a few hundred Blue Jays fans are just a small dosage of that. There was a few french people are "fags" chants in the bleachers for the 2nd and 3rd games.

- Overall the experince of seeing a game there did live up to all the hype. The atmosphere, the history, and just the stadium itself is something every baseball fan should experince.

- I no longer will complain about the price's at the dome. A bottle of beer was $9.75 there, enough said.

Yeah Yankee Stadium is a special place for any baseball fan, Yankee fan or otherwise. I went there a few years back and saw Roger Clemons shut down the the Twins over 8 innings of 2 hit ball before yielding to Mariano who came in and did his thing in typical dominating fashion.

The fans there are truly great...reacting to almost every play...good or bad.

I went back in '98 or '99 and saw Ken Griffey Jr. hit two home runs in a massive Seattle Mariners win. It was terrific, I've always had a soft spot for the Mariners, through the Cannons.

I went to the Met's sunday night game against the Philly's and you could defintley see the difference. Not the Yankees need too, but besides the annoying grounds crew doing the YMCA there is nothing for the fans. Shea however was much more fan friendly with just a whole lot of other stuff, not taking away from the game either. The Post did a writeup of the entertainment value off the field and Shea got 4/5 where as YS got 1/5.

I went to one game at Yankee stadium and sat in the bleachers...good times. stinkin' hot IIRC

anyways this was the game:

For pitcher David Wells, that meant honoring his hero. On June 28, 1997, in the House That Ruth Built, Wells wore the Hat That Ruth Wore. Wells, a lifelong Ruth fan, took the mound wearing an authentic 1934 Babe Ruth hat, which Wells bought for $35,000. Manager Joe Torre made Wells take it off after the first inning because it didn't conform to uniform standards. Wells then blew a 3-0 lead as the Cleveland Indians won 12-8

I was fortunate enough to be able to see several games in Yankee Stadium when travelling and must say it gives me chills each time I walk through the doorway.. Actually, they begin the moment I step off the train.

The best of all the ball parks, football stadiums and arenas out there. I have been a Yankee fan since the first game I saw there, against the Kansas City Royals.

Yeah, I went to Yankee Stadium in May and watched them wallop on the Jays a couple of times. I was kind of scared to cheer for the Jays, as it was NYC and they seem to take it pretty seriously, but thankfully the Jays didn't do to much to make me cheer for them

I've been to a few MLB games, and Yankee stadium was by far the best, although Wrigley is cool too.

I went to see the Jays there last year ... not a single Jays logo anywhere, no hats or jerseys on fans, only NY stuff for sale ... I've never seen that before. Cool stadium with lots of history, and the fact that it is in the Bronx makes it even better.

I'm going to a couple Mets games in a couple weeks, does anyone know what I should expect to pay for scalped tix?

Yankee Stadium didn't do a whole lot for me. I found the stadium kind of bland, and the crowd wasn't really that into it. I've seen a lot of games at Fenway park, and find the atmosphere and nostalgia at Yankee Stadium does not come close to that of Fenway. The atmosphere inside and outside of Fenway is a pretty chilling experience, especially back in te day watching Pedro vs. the Yankees, or some other marquee matchup.

Granted many of the games I've seen at Fenway were often some of the biggest games of the year, and the Yankees was just a mid-season game against the Rangers.
