Default Ever wonder why you are unhappy?

Turns out it is because you have a computer and like to text message.

Also talks about 9/11, cruise missles, diahrreha at prom, and my personal favorite: "Meatspace".

A good read. I can see his points. I don't know if they are right, but I can definitely see the sense of some of them.

However, like all things dealing with human nature, I don't think he can make these statements and say they are true for all people. But there is nothing wrong with urging people to try and get out and be social.

While I agree with RedMan, there's a couple points in the article that are good too.

Anyone familiar with the Buddhist value of compassion would have to agree with a lot of these; especially the way we can find social niches of very similar interests.

Any two human beings have much more in common than they don't: they're a live, they have needs and wants -- like happiness and finding love -- and share a place in the world. The other stuff is superficial.

A very good read, and I agree with some of his points. Am I unhappy? Not one bit but I, like alot of people I'm sure, find myself always wanting more. Not more in the sense of personal belongings. But in terms of social life, love, so on and so forth. The friends I have are great and we always have a good time but I enjoy the company of others as well and meeting random strangers. Should less text I guess. :P

Some interesting points raised, but let me be the first to say

Grow up you whiney little emo bitch!

1 - Strangers aren't annoying me anymore, boo-hoo

2 - My friends aren't ****ing me off, seriously wtf?

3 - Text = Bad Communication, we're misreading 40% of Shakespeare, Poe, and Hemmingway are we? Better not pick up a book, or the newspaper!

4 - Text = Less Communication, because 93% of communication is non-verbal so we must talk to annoying strangers and friends!

5 - We're not criticized enough, ergo he can't evaulate the decisions he makes in his own life, and needs annoying friends to tell him his faults, as when tens of thousands of strangers tell him his faults he doesn't listen, they're meaningless, but being told you're a cockweasel, porksword, or wangbasket 104,165 times isn't annoying

6 - The outrage machine, the media is controling us, making us think nasty thoughts and that we're all gonna die (because we can't think for ourselves)

7 - We feel worthless because we're worth less, we need each other less, therefore we're less wanted and we're depressed. I mean we don't need each other less because we're awesome and can do things by our amazing selves now can we? Nope must be text messaging, and that evil media.

I can use smoke and mirrors too, anyone else wanna smack that guy and tell him to "suck it up princess"?

The article reminds me of www.hopeisemo.com
