Default CFL ESKS: How long till Maciocia gets fired?

So how long till he gets canned?

Next 4 games are all critical:

Home v Sask
Road v Lions
Road v Stamps
Home v Stamps

My prediction is they will lose the first 3 of those, then can him after Monday game against the Stamps.

There is a chance they will beat the Riders and as such probably wont fire him until after the Labour Day game or not at all.

The team is playing the same way they did last year, the only reason they won last year was because Moss and Gass willed it.

If they dont fire him after the above, my guess is they will forgo the season and fire him after an embarassing record and missing the playoffs for the first time in 30 odd years or so.

I would go longer on a rant as to why they are sputtering but I will save that for another day.

Regards.

ESKS fan in Calgary.

Lose a few more games and he is out. if he goes 1-4 in the next 4 games I agree he is done. Eskies dont have patients they are all about winning.

But who takes over? Hugh Cambells Son?

I hope not, the way that franchise is run now is a complete joke. The nepetism with his sone as a D coord, what a joke. If the team wasnt treated like royalty in that city, they might actually see that it is run like a complete gong show.

I dont know who would take over, I would have guessed maybe Marshall but he is now at UWO so who knows.

At least there is still one team in Alberta who is descent.

I see things kind of the same way. I think the Esks won last year in spite of the coach, not because of him. He is not a good coach in my eyes. If he had half a brain, he would have let Maas play the rest of the playoffs after he dismantled Calgary in the first round. Then, after Ray faltered again against BC, he put Maas in again and he did well. Yet... somehow Ricky Ray gets the start in the Grey Cup, pulls out a win, and he is the hero, when Maas was clearly the reason they got there in the first place.

What is it with Edmonton... Always switching goaltenders and Quarterbacks in the middle of games?

I agree that the correct thing would have been let Moss play but they had just given Ray a huge contract and had already agreed to trade Moss to Hamilton. I am very surprised that Hamilton didnt say that they didnt want Mass to play the rest of the season. I still find it hard to believe we didnt hear more owners complain out loud on that one.

Danny is in between a rock and a hard place in Edmonton. He has to deal with an organization with more cronies and city pocket stuffers than Italian Leage Soccer (last year every starter was a given a years free lease on a Ford vehicle to use). I dont blame him, its all Hugh's making and Danny is just an easy tubby gnome that is easy to pick on.

It would be hard to can the guy even though the season might actually end early for them this year (and oh how I pray they do!!!)... but the guy just came off of a championship year .

One of my friends from Edmonton is a eskie fan and he says he really can't stand their coach - apparently he is super cocky and full of himself (which I do admit can be desirable and lots of fun) and definetly wasn't the best choice for a coach.

The problem truly lies in that how does a 8 team league NOT have 8 really good head coaches??? It seems that year after year that really only half of the teams have decent coaches, let alone stable, consistent staff year after year. It seems that the only good ones - the ones that stick (Buono, Higgins, Matthews for example) put out winners year after year.

So the problem is you can Maciocia - but who do they replace him with?
Apparently there is no good farm system for coaching going on cause in an 8 team league in a 30 million pop. country... there isn't 8 really good head coaches? .

Just my 3 1/2 cents worth!

... just one more quick thought... when the cfl teams keep going back to Ron Lancaster now in Hamilton, AGAIN!, that is pretty sad! It truly shows everyone that the CFL really needs to do something to help grow head coaches that are not older than 95!!
